It’s not just the Disney Villains who’ve had their outfits transformed into buildable LEGO® dresses. This new concept for the LEGO Disney theme offers brick-built dresses inspired by classic characters from iconic Disney movies. For this set, it’s the 1950 Disney animated classic, Cinderella. The focus on a dress is ideally suited for the character as the story of Cinderella, includes the creation of a dress to attend a royal ball. Thanks to the Fairy Godmother, Cinderella has a fancy new dress crafted by a team of mice. Thankfully you don’t need any rodents to recreate the LEGO Disney Cinderella’s Dress. Here’s what the upcoming set has to offer.

Like many of Disney’s earlier animated feature films, Cinderella is based on a classic tale. Following a magical transformation, Cinderella attends a royal ball which was organised to find the Kingdom’s prince with a suitor. With a little help from her Fairy Godmother and a few animals, Cinderella is fitted with a beautiful blue ball gown. That dress is the focus of this new LEGO Disney set. Along with a buildable gown, the set also includes a display stand and Cinderella mini-doll.
For Cinderella to attend the royal ball, the Fairy Godmother bestows her with a shimmering ball gown. The version featured in this set is inspired by the dress as opposed to being an exact recreation. Both the 50s animated and the 2017 live-action versions of the dress are quite plain. They are mostly blue with a large ruffled skirt. In all honesty, this version’s skirt section looks a little short. I understand why it isn’t, as adding further length to the edge of the dress would make it far too wide. But it doesn’t feel as elegant as a ball gown normally is. Additional detail is archived on the skirt thanks to groups of white 2×2 round tiles and a printed 1×3 tile, nestled between them. The white print does look washed out due to being applied to a coloured element. The dress is built to look as if it’s mounted on a dress stand, which allows it to be displayed as it is or on the display platform.
Once the dress is built, the focus turns to the aforementioned display platform. The dress can be connected to it, thanks to a turntable plate This adds a little more colour to the set and features a mix of blue, yellow and white elements, pairing nicely with the dress.
The interior of the stand also hides further detail thanks to two sections which open out to reveal a tea set and a sowing machine. These add fun details but it would have been nice to see some detail added to the inner side of the pale blue curved panels. The stand also features a door which is where you can store the Cinderella mini-doll.
Cinderella has appeared in several past LEGO Disney sets, with most versions using the narrow dress base for the character. The 2017 version of the character featured a wider skirt element, which offers a better style for the character. This updated version uses the same rounded skirt element, but the version of the character is unique thanks to different print details and the new hairpiece, which features earrings. Cinderella is joined by one of her rodent chums, Gus. This animal figure was introduced in 2021 and has been featured in several different sets, it’s a shame some of the other mouse characters aren’t included as well.
As my preview of the Villains Dresses set mentioned, this new concept could be used for other Disney characters. Just like Cinderella’s outfit, different characters would make the perfect inspiration for future sets. I could see Belle’s ball gown, Anna and Elsa’s outfits and Snow White’s dress becoming the perfect partners for sets being released next month. For now, this set and the one featuring Maleficent and Cruella’s dresses, make a unique Disney-themed display.
The LEGO Disney Cinderella’s Dress set arrives on March 1st. It will be joined by the Maleficent’s and Cruella Da Vil’s Dresses set. Along with the Lilo and Stitch Beach House set and the buildable Heihei chicken set.
