After appearing in 2014’s The LEGO® Movie, Unikitty has become a much-loved LEGO character. Rather than getting her own big screen outing like LEGO Batman, Unikitty and her odd new friends are the stars of an all-new animated TV series, currently airing on Cartoon Network over in the US. But it seems Unikitty may also be arriving in a brand new LEGO theme based on the show, expected later this year. Scholastics Books have revealed details of a number of their upcoming LEGO titles, expected across 2018, two of which will be based on the Unikitty TV show. One is a Unikitty’s Guide to Happiness and the other is an activity book with buildable LEGO Unikitty minifigure, but the descriptions for the books also suggest a toy line is also on the cards.
The breakout star from the LEGO Movie gets her very own Cartoon Network TV show and toy line from The LEGO Group beginning in 2018. The series follows Princess Unikitty — whose efforts to stay positive no matter what sometimes make her prone to the occasional “rage-out” — as she keeps busy with royal responsibilities and fights the negativity that comes from her nemesis, Master Frown, a big ol’ jerk who lives in the next city over: Frowntown. Joined by a wild cast of characters including her brother Prince Puppycorn, Bodyguard Hawkodile (he’s literally a crocodile and a hawk put together), and scientist Dr. Fox, Unikitty and her friends make sure that every day is the happiest and most creative ever.
Having seen many of the fun little clips released by Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. Animation over the past few weeks, Unikitty’s gang of friends would make for some intersting brick-built characters. The books are expected in August so if this description is correct, we could see some new LEGO Unikitty sets, like the one below from The LEGO Movie range, appearing around then. As with all rumours of this sort, until confirmed or officially revealed by the LEGO Group, they are purely speculative.
