The Book
The LEGO Batman Movie annual is just what you’ll expect from an annual, full of fun puzzles and things to do. What’s really great about it, is the art style used. All the characters, locations and vehicles from the movie are recreated in a great illustrated style.
If you’ve seen any of Egmont Books other titles based on The LEGO Batman Movie such as Chaos in Gotham City, Choose Your Super Hero Doodle Activity Book, Ready, Steady, Stick! and I am Batman! The Dark Knight’s Activity Diary then the annual will seem quite similar in fact as few of the puzzles featured in those titles make an appearance in the annual, although there’s plenty more new content to enjoy.
The Minifigures
For many the draw of the annual will be the inclusion of a LEGO Minifigure. With The LEGO Batman Movie Annual you get a Penguin Minifigure. It’s the exact same version of the Minifigure which appears in 70909: Batcave Break-in. Although it may not be an exclusive version of the character it’s certainly the cheapest way to add the Penguin to your collection compared to picking up set 70909 or indeed 70911: The Penguin’s Arctic Roller.
Currently there’s three ways to get the Penguin, on the left is the Minifigure included with the annual, on the right the one included with the Arctic Roller set and in the middle the one found in Batcave Break-in set.
Overall
The LEGO Batman Movie Official Annual 2018 will make the perfect Christmas stocking filler for all the younger LEGO fans out there. The book is filled with plenty of things to keep them busy beyond Christmas and the addition of a LEGO Minifigure sweetens the deal. Although not an exclusive version, it’s a great way to get the Penguin, especially with many retailers offering annuals for around £4, less than half price.
