As many of you know, BricksFanz has been a small part of the LEGO® community for a number of years and even before its inception, I shared my love for LEGO elsewhere. Despite numerous obstacles along the way, the site has grown and I’ve had the honour of becoming a LEGO Ambassador. This year marked the 8th anniversary of the site and I was planning on a few updates, including moving to a new host and other tweaks. I’m not very tech savvy so the process is very daunting. However, the past couple of days have made me question the future of the site. The LEGO community on a whole is amazing but I’ve recently had a few comments, which have instantly deflated my mood. These may seem like snippy quips from those who make them but can have a much bigger impact.
BricksFanz takes up a large part of my life and as a carer for my Mum, it’s my only outlet. I don’t go out and don’t have many friends so stepping away from BricksFanz would be a huge blow to me. I run it alone and at times it’s hard work, especially juggling news and reviews whilst I try to keep the house running and my Mum comfortable. I would love to have help but couldn’t ask others to give up their time for little reward. I’m certainly not perfect, my writing and photos could be better but I’m proud of what I do considering all of that. I won’t make any rash decisions, I still have a couple of reviews to do (plus cover any news and announcements) so will take that time to consider what will happen going forward.
