We’ve rather lucky in the UK as we have access to a number of decent LEGO® Magazines. This week a new title joined the line-up but this is a little different to other LEGO Magazines. Firstly it’s from Egmont Publishing and most excitingly, every issue will include an exclusive LEGO Polybag set. Issue 1 launched this week and Egmont has kindly sent me a copy to take a look at. So read on for a closer look at this new magazine and the funky free polybag it includes.

Title: LEGO Explorer Price: £3.99 Includes: Set 11938: Robot Next Available: October 21st
At first glance, this would seem like most other LEGO Magazines and that’s partly true. It’s obviously aimed at younger LEGO fans, but I’d say it probably the most likely LEGO Magzine to also appeal to AFOLs. Whereas other LEGO titles are aimed towards various themes, this has an educational focus. The first issue is focused on robots, this includes other LEGO robotic sets such as BOOST but also covers a few real-world robots. It also offers a few build ideas, a little similar to the various LEGO Idea books. But one thing I found the most interesting were the various snippets of information from LEGO Designers. Most pages have an ‘Inside Info’ box-out which offer quotes from a number of LEGO Designers. It’s a great way for kids to be able to connect with the people who create the things they play with and maybe inspire them to follow the same path.
Kids and LEGO collectors alike will be very interested in the cover-mounted free gift. Unlike most LEGO Magazines, which feature foil bag gifts, the LEGO Explorer Magazines includes an exclusive Polybag set. These are larger and a little more complex compared to the foil bags. The first issue includes set 11938 which is a small robot, this features just over 40 pieces and is a decent little build. Definitely worth £3.99.
