LEGO Star Wars Choose Your Path Book Review

The spring range of new LEGO® titles from DK Books are nearly here and we’ve been taking a look at them ahead of the releases over the next few weeks. After our review of DK Books’ LEGO Animal Atlas, the second book we are taking a look at is LEGO Star Wars: Choose Your Path. The book sends readers on a twisting adventure across a galaxy far, far away as they follow a trio of Star Wars heroes. It also includes a U-3PO minifigure, who joins you on your adventures. So let’s take a closer look at both the book and the minifigure, as we review the LEGO Star War: Choose You Path book.

The Book

The book is similar to past LEGO Star Wars books like LEGO Star Wars: The Dark Side or LEGO Star Wars: Chronicles of the Force, which means a lot of stock images, set out in a colourful and fun way. The difference here is a series of different adventures you can follow across the book. They join three iconic Star Wars characters – Obi-Wan, Princess Leia and Rey. You choose which path you’d like to follow then turn to the relevant pages. This takes you across the book, where you’ll get to see a number of LEGO sets past and present and learn a little more about them and the Star Wars universe along the way.

The book includes a vast part of the Star Wars lore, from the main movies to the animated shows like Rebels. Although they are stock images, they have been presented in a great way and the adventures is a nice way to interact with both the LEGO Star Wars and Star Wars universe. The Data File and Build It sections will interest the older LEGO fans the most.

The Minifigure

The book includes a U-3PO minifigure, which although it’s not an exclusive character to the book, it could be considered quite rare. U-3PO last appeared in the 2016 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar. The droid is basically a silver version of protocol droid C-3Po, which the same sort of print detailed you’d expect. It’s a nice addition to the book and a great way to add the character to your collection if you missed out a few years ago.

Overall

These sort of LEGO Star Wars books are aimed at younger builders will delight in heading off on their own Star Wars adventures. It’s a shame the U-3PO minifigure isn’t exclusive but it’s nice to have another chance to add it to your collection, should you need to. The LEGO Star Wars: Choose Your Path from DK Books will be published on June 7th and you can pre-order now from Amazon. Thanks to DK Books for sending us the title to review.
