The LEGO® Jurassic World theme has been immensely popular since it was launched alongside the new first of a new trilogy of films in 2015. Since then we’ve had sets inspired by all three Jurassic World films and along with the Camp Cretaceous Netflix series and an animated LEGO series, Legend of Isla Nublar. Since the Netflix series and World trilogy have both come to an end, where will the LEGO Group seek inspiration for new sets? Well, it seems Jurassic Park is the answer. In a recent interview Vince Klaseus, president of Universal Products and Experiences, discusses what’s next for the Jurassic brand and gave this answer: “Jurassic Park” is where it all started, and it remains the cornerstone of the brand – and we’ll be celebrating the film’s 30th anniversary in a big way next year, capitalizing on the nostalgia and iconography that generations of fans love. Beyond that, fans can look forward to more – more toys and collectibles from Mattel, LEGO, TOMY and others, more on-trend apparel and lifestyle products, more digital and gaming content, more in-person experiences through touring shows, theme park attractions, etc.”
As you can see from the quote, LEGO is listed as one of the brand partners who will be releasing products for the Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary. Of course, it’s not the first time Jurassic Park has inspired sets, with a playset released in 2018 and two further adult-focused sets, with one released in 2019 and the other earlier this year. So it seems 2023 will see even more Jurassic Park sets, most likely spread across both playsets and ICONS releases. Big thanks to BricksFanz reader Jeff, for spotting this.
