When the LEGO® Ideas Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale set launches next month, it will be joined by two extra goodies. These include a Mimic Chest Dice Box GWP and a physical edition of the Red Dragon’s Tale DnD campaign book. As well as being able to take an early look at the set, here’s an advanced peek at both of these special Insiders rewards.

Mimics are shapeshifting creatures which can polymorph into seemingly inanimate objects. Players can search these objects for useful items unaware it could be a Mimic ready to gobble them up. They can become an array of different items, but their most famous form is a treasure chest. So it’s rather fitting, that a Mimic Chest has been used to create a brick-built dice box. The set is packaged in the yellow-boarded box, with the elements included in a ziplock. If you haven’t built a set in the same packaging it may seem odd. The chest measures 6×10 studs with a blue tongue which can be folded into the chest or hanging over the edge. When a Mimic is ready to pound, it reveals its sharp teeth and orange eyes, both feature in the fun little set. There’s plenty of room within the chest to store several DnD dice, although these are not included in the set.

Wizards of the Coast has created an exclusive DnD campaign which utilizes the set, its characters and creatures. The Red Dragon’s Tale adventure can be accessed for free digitally on LEGO.com and D&D Beyond. There will also be additional digital content available such as character sheets, digital LEGO dice and more to download. But Insiders can use their points to receive a physical version of the LEGO DnD adventure. This unique Dungeon Masters Guide is beautifully illustrated in a similar style to some of the LEGO books from Ameet. The guide is a great introduction to DnD as it also offers simpler ways to proceed through the adventure. Haven’t got a 20-sided dice to hand? Not a problem, just flip a coin instead. It’s also full of humourous moments which work perfectly for both DnD and LEGO characters. It’s a great item to own and you’ll be able to get it via the LEGO Insiders Reward Centre for 2700 points from April 1st. I’m not going to show too much of the content as it will spoil the adventure.

Can you mention something about the quality of the campaign which comes with the lego set? Is it worth and a good starting campaing for beginners? 🙂

As mentioned it a great starting point into DnD has Wizards of the Coast have included simpler ways to play through the campaign. Although I haven’t played it, I’ve read through it and it’s full of fun moments and nicely connected to the set.
