The Book
The last time we had a book similar to this one was way back in 2012, when The LEGO Book was published and there’s been a lot of things which have happened in the world of LEGO since then. So it’s the perfect time for an updated book which builds upon the history of one of the world’s most popular toys brands.
The book really does cover every aspect of the LEGO Groups long history, from the humble beginnings as a wooden toys maker right up to the release of innovations such as LEGO Boost and LEGO Dimensions. But it’s not just a timeline of significant events, the book weaves in and out of all the different things LEGO has created over the years. From looking at individual themes, groups of elements, video games and much more.
Most pages are filled with plenty to look at along with a number of boxouts, each offering different factoids and snippets of information. These includes Brick History, Fact Stack, Brick Challenge and Top Five. Each offer genuinely interestingly pieces of information. I thought I knew a lot about LEGO but even I learnt something new from flicking through the book.
The book is fairly up-to-date, with recent releases like LEGO Boost and World Record attempts like the Land Rover bridge included although there are a few elements which are a little out-of-date now such as the top five biggest LEGO sets not including the new Ultimate Collectors Series Millennium Falcon, but to be fair the book was published before it was available to buy.
Overall
LEGO Absolutely Everything You Need To Know is one of those books that should be in every LEGO fans collection. Not only is it great resource, it’s also filled with interesting information that anyone with even the remotest interest in LEGO will revel in. The LEGO brand has done an impressive job of incorporating itself into many different areas, the book does a great job of covering all aspects of them. Not only touching upon the brand’s long history but also many of its connected offshoots. It really does offer absolutely everything you need to know about LEGO.
LEGO Absolutely Everything You Need To Know Book is published by DK Books and is available now from Amazon and all good book retailers.
