It’s been announced today, that LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort will be bidding a fond farewell to a much-loved ride. Towards the end of September, the Viking River Splash ride will cease operating. The water ride has been a part of the park since 2007 and is inspired by the Vikings with a number of LEGO® models themed around the Nordic explorers, dotted around the ride. The ride commands a huge area of the park, so whatever will replace it should be quite large. It’s unclear if the ride will be simply rethemed to align with currently available LEGO product lines or if the ride will be completely removed and the area redeveloped with a new attraction. The closure of the ride is not connected to the current construction of a duelling coaster. The final voyage of the Viking River Splash ride will be on September 25th.
