Many LEGO® fans like to display their creation once they’ve been built. Some of easier to display than others but one thing every piece of LEGO has in common, no matter its size, is the ability to gain dust instantly. This is why LEGO display cases have become rather prevalent in recent years. As more and more sets are created for the purpose of display, you’ll be able to find a case to put them in. Thanks to iDisplayit, I’ve been able to take a look at one of their custom LEGO display cases and decided upon the enhanced version of the case for the Mini Disney Castle. This not only provides an enclosed space to show off the set but also features an illustrated base and background. So here’s a closer look at the display case.

One thing I was impressed with from the start is the packaging. The case comes flat-packed with the pieces needed to construct it bound together tightly and inside a padded envelope. This was inside a box, lined with bubble wrap. It was also delivered by DPD Local who seem to handle parcels well, so it arrived intact.
As mentioned, the case comes flat-packed, complete with instructions and 8 fittings to assemble the front and back acrylic panels with the sides. If you’ve built the LEGO set to put in it, building the case is fairly straightforward, the hardest part is peeling the protected film on each side of the panels. The side panels each have four sections in which a screw mount can be slotted. Once twisted into place, all the panels simply slot together and are then secured by a small screw, this can be tightened with the included Allen key. The base and lid aren’t fixed in place with anything but are held nicely by the main body of the case, this also means it’s easy to access the interior.
The base and back panel of the case have printed designs on them. The base features a cobbled street, similar to what can be found at Disney Parks. The base also has three slots, you can place a trio of 1×3 rounded plates. One is for the Mickey Mouse Minifigure to be placed on and the other two help to anchor the castle. The background features a sky scene and some fireworks, which nicely shows off the set.
I’ve always been tempted to pick up a display case, but never have. Now, after actually seeing one up close and how it looks with a set in it, I sold on them. Assembling one was easier than I expected and it really does make a set look even better, especially with the addition of the detail on the base and background. You can get your own Mini Disney Castle Display Case from iDisplayit here. Options include plain cases with a black or white base or the one with a printed base and background as featured here.
