The new series of LEGO® Minifigures broke cover yesterday and they have proven quite popular. Some of the best features in the new series are all the new animal elements and numerous Easter Eggs from the long history of LEGO sets. LEGO Minifigures Series 19 will arrive on September 1st, until then check out some of the fun features hidden within them below. See the full range of 16 characters here.
- Johnny Thunder is a legendary LEGO character. He’s appear in a number of classic adventure themes from yesteryear and even managed to make a cameo in The LEGO Movie. His legend looks like it lives on, with the Jungle Explorer having a remarkably familiar look about him. Maybe he’s a distant relative or has simply modelled his look on the well known hero.
- Blacktron is a classic space theme from from 80s. It’s found its way onto a number of Collectible Minifigures over the years and crops up again in the latest series. The familiar upside down triforce-type logo is the insignia of the classic space subtheme factions. Could this lone warrior be laying the path for a new space theme?
- The Gamer is packed with LEGO nods. From the Series 16 Cyborg on his printed tile, to the various space theme logos on his shirt. These include M-Tron, Blacktron and Classic Space! If only the shirt was available in human sizes.
- Fright Knights is one of the many spin-offs from the Classic Castle theme. It had a more fantasy twist to it, with the Knights of the realm ruled by Basil the Bat Lord. Their insignia appears on this Ghostly Knights shield. Maybe he’s a fallen Fright Knight back from the afterlife.
- Pizza has a long history in the world of LEGO. The classic colour scheme has been used on numerous LEGO sets and Minifigures. The Pizza Suit Guy, reuses the Melon wedge from The LEGO Movie 2. His advertising board features a classic North-East UK delicacy – the Parmo!
- The programmer has some cool accessories but it’s her shirt which features a neat detail – LEGO spelt out in computing code. Thanks to James for pointing this out.
