As exciting as LEGO® sets inspired by blockbuster movies or iconic brands are, its original themes which really showcase the creativity of the LEGO brick. The latest original theme, DREAMZzz launched earlier this year and the sets offer plenty of creativity with the ability to build sets in different ways. There’s also an option to combine sets to take the level of creativity up a notch and this is also centered around the LEGO exclusive LEGO DREAMZzz set, Dream Village. On its own, the set seems like a fun little build featuring a trio of hut-type buildings for the Dreamlings. Not only can these be rearranged into a single building, but they can also be added to a trio of other LEGO DREAMZzz sets.
The first set which can be transformed by the Dream Village set is Mrs. Castillo’s Turtle Van. This is one of the theme’s best sets as it’s styled to look similar to a vintage camper van. On its own, the set gives you the option to build it as a traditional van, or something far more creative by adding some turtle-like features. Popping off the roof in any of these forms allows you to add the bakery and magic shops to the van.
The largest of the LEGO DREAMZzz sets is the whimsical-looking Fantastical Tree House. This is another interesting-looking set regardless of which version of it you choose to build. The tree acts as the base of the set and the customisable elements are the three platforms dotted around the tree. These can be replaced with three Dream Village houses. However, I did find that you couldn’t simply clip them to the vacant spots. The Magic Shop can’t sit properly against the ‘crow’s nest’ near the top of the tree and the Bakery can sit flush due to a small brick-built sign connected to the tree. A little tweaking allows all the buildings to connect correctly.
The Stable of Dream Creatures can also be expanded by adding the Dream Village buildings. Admittedly it’s the least impressive of the three combinations as you merely clip the buildings to the sides of the stable. Still, once combined it does feel more like a little settlement and offers a bigger playset to enjoy.
The LEGO DREAMZzzz range is available now from LEGO stores, LEGO.com and all good LEGO retailers. You’ll find many of the sets are currently discounted through several retailers including Amazon.
