LEGOLAND attractions worldwide have inspired several special sets sold exclusively in their retail stores. The last few LEGOLAND sets have been based on rides and experiences found in LEGOLAND parks such as the NINJAGO ride, world of Mythica and even an entire theme park. The latest takes its inspiration from the classic LEGOLAND Billund ride Pirate Spalsh Battle. Here’s a brief look at the new set.

LEGOLAND parks and attractions have always sold exclusive LEGO® items in their retail stores but mostly recently these have been a little more elaborate and inspired by rides or attractions from various LEGOLAND locations. The latest of these LEGOLAND exclusive sets is the Pirate Splash Battle, which is inspired by the ride of the same name found at LEGOLAND Billund. This can be found, unsurprisingly, in the park’s Pirate Land and was introduced in 2008. It’s set to reopen for the 2024 season, making the introduction of this set, rather timely.
Although inspired by the ride of the same name, it’s certainly not a direct recreation. It’s made of three different separate sections. A pirate-themed ‘entrance’ which features a stickered sign showing a LEGO version of the ride. This is a nice little detail which has appeared in previous LEGOLAND sets. There’s a small battlement, which features the same white castle walls as the real ride. The ride’s water-based boat is also included and although it’s not as detailed, if you’ve been on the real ride, you’ll recognise this immediately. Both the boat and battlement feature stud shooters to replicate the ride’s ability to shoot water at targets. The targets are printed, although one in the set I’ve built is a little wonky.
The set includes a trio of minifigures, with the two visitors making use of torsos from past LEGO City sets. The young lad’s torso was featured in the Street Skate Park released last year and the older male character appears to be a fan of slushies, as he’s sorting the same torso as the penguin-themed employee from the Penguin Slushy Van. The pirate is new thanks to her LEGOLAND-themed outfit, which does look like a simple pirate torso, but look closer and you’ll notice she’s also wearing a name badge.
You’ll find the LEGOLAND Pirate Splash Battle set in LEGOLAND Resort stores and LEGOLAND Discovery and LEGO Discovery Centres, globally. You can also buy the set now from The Minifigure Store.
