There are LEGO® sets for all ages and to bridge the gap between DUPLO and standard LEGO sets, the LEGO 4+ line was introduced. Previously known as LEGO Juniors, these easy-to-build sets were later integrated into various LEGO themes. As part of the recent wave of LEGO Marvel sets, a small 4+ set was included featuring Iron Man and Thanos. Here’s a closer look at this simple little set.

The Hulkbuster Suit has appeared in many forms and this set offers its most simplistic one yet. It uses a number of unique elements, some of which have been used in other versions of the Hulkbuster. Some of these are recoloured just for this set, but they are as exciting as some of the pieces found in the 4+ sets. There is a printed dome piece for the suit’s head and a printed 2×2 for the ARC Reactor. The use of bigfig fists for the hands is a nice touch. The chest section can be flipped down and the head flipped up in order to place a seated Iron Man inside. Thanos is known for his might but his build is very simple. It’s a platform with a disc-firing brick as its centre. It’s not very exciting but offers a fun play feature at the very least.
The set includes two characters, Iron Man offers a unique version of the character with the torso, legs and helmet only found in this set. To help stick to the simple nature of the set, the helmet uses the single-element version which doesn’t feature a flip-up face plate. The minifigure form of Thanos has appeared in a couple of previous sets but is still a rare version of the character.
Overall
This is yet another Marvel set which is awfully priced. It may contain a few unique, recoloured elements but I can’t see how these would push up the price. There are other sets featuring similar aspects of this set and at a slightly more reasonable price point. They may not be easy to build but if you wanted a 4+ set your young one can build alone, I’d stick to non-licensed themes. Pricing aside, it’s a fun little set, with a unique Iron Man minifigure and basic play features.
