With every new LEGO® Minifigures series, the wealth of crazy characters grows. With the long-running series flipping between original and licensed characters, the next series to be released will feature 12 original minifigures. But some of them have fun connections with other LEGO sets and themes. Here’s a look at those connections.
T rex Costume Fan
First introduced in the 2010 theme, LEGO Dino, the T. rex has since appeared in many of the Jurassic World sets. It’s become an iconic LEGO element, the T rex Costume Fan’s outfit is styled after the creature element.
Newspaper Kid
The Newspaper Kid has the latest news headlines from 1978 with the Classic Police Officer minifigure featured on the front of his newspaper, who said print was dead.
Orc
This connection is a little more obscure and harks back to the Fantasy Era of Classic Castle. This is when the Trolls were the focus of the sets. The troll’s badge on their outfits is featured on the Orc and his shield has a similar skull motif.
Falconer
Another Classic Castle connection is found on the Falconer minifigure, who is obviously a member of the iconic Castle fraction the Black Falcons. They have recently appeared in a few modern sets including the LEGO Ideas Medieval Blacksmith and the 90th Anniversary Lion Knights’ Castle.
Carrot Mascot
A vegetable-based connected universe is forming with the Carrot Mascot. Two LEGO City sets from this year feature carrots including the Farmer’s Market Van and the Grocery Store, both of these sets will retire at the end of 2022.
Brown Astronaut & Spacebaby
Classic Space doesn’t need any explanation. Since it was first introduced it’s provided a range of colourful space farers. Over the years, the ranks have grown to include more colours and fans have used other Collectable Minifigures to create new variants. With the Brown Astronaut and the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year Parade set, fans can finally create the full rainbow of Classic Space Minifigures using genuine LEGO pieces. Incidentally, those colours perfectly match the Everyone is Awesome colours.
Rockin’ Horse Rider
Finally, the Rockin’ Horse Rider’s Rocking Horse is style after the LEGO Horse element featured in many sets. This is similar to how the Knight of the Yellow Castle’s horse toy.
