The LEGO® Disney theme has provided a number of interesting sets and it’s always fun when they offer something a little different. This is why I was drawn to the Enchanted Creations set. I’m certainly not the target audience but it doesn’t mean I can’t take a closer look at the set. It’s inspired by three of the Disney Princesses – Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Tiana from The Princess and the Frog and Merida from Brave. Each character has their own buildable item themed around their story. So here’s a look at the Disney Enchanted Creations set.

The Disney Princess sets normally feature buildings or other such story beats connected to their Disney films so carriages, castles and things like that. What makes this set different is it includes three buildable creations which act more as items than playsets. They do have minimal play features but their use is beyond play. Each of the princesses has their own item and there is little connection between them both in terms of their source inspiration or the actual items as one is a stationary caddy, one is a sort of a musicless ‘music’ box and the other is styled as a very small treasure chest. This is where things get a little unusual, Merida’s build can easily hold pens in its pot turret and other items in its pull out tray but the others are less useful in that sense as the chest is too small to hold anything and Tiana’s build can hold the includes DOTS bracelet and tiles. Each of the builds has its own instructions booklet as well as enchanted digital instructions on the LEGO Instructions App. So more than one person can build at the same time. There are also a number of stickers including shiny ones.
Pixar’s Brave – Merida
Merida is a reluctant princess who would rather spend her time enjoying the adventures offered by the Scottish countryside than ruling over it. Her royal heritage inspires the castle-like build which is made up of two parts. The first thing you build is an ornate crate-like section that can then be slotted into a much larger build made up of a castle turret and wall. The turret doubles as a pen pot, with the draw being able to hold smaller things such as paperclips and the like. Much of the detailing uses stickers, including the Merida family crest, the banner flags and the archery target.
Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Aurora
Aurora’s build is also made of two sections – a lid and a case which opens out to reveal colourful pictures, a wardrobe and oddly a cake. When you think of Sleeping Beauty, the first things that come to mind are the fairy godmothers, an evil Queen and spindle which puts the princess to sleep for 100 years. A make-up case that doubles as a dressing room don’t really connect to any of this. What is nice are the stickered ‘windows’ which feature sort of stained glass murals of Maleficent on one side and Flora, Fauna and Merryweather. The base of the build can be opened out to show these images as well as a cupboard area, which hides a tiara. There’s also a cake that uses the ‘dripped icing’ element. The whole thing can be gathered together and then ‘locked’ with a clip and then the lid section can be added. It’s far too small to be able to hold much beyond a few small LEGO pieces.
Disney’s The Frog & The Princess – Tiana
Tiana is an important aspect of the Disney Animation legacy. It was one of the final hand-drawn animated Disney films. It also featured one of the first African-American princesses as well as adding the first new princess to the official line-up since the late 90s. The colourful atmosphere of the New Orleans swamps is a big influence of this build, which once again features two buildable sections that are then combined. In a similar fashion to the Stationary Pot, the build features a removable draw. This slots into a platform area that features a series of splat gears. These turn, which is why it feels a little like a music box. Because one the Mini-doll is added it’s very reminiscent of a music playing jewellery box that springs to life when the lid is opened. This build also featured a unique DOTS bracelet and tiles. The bracelet is the original 2 studs wide version and can be decorated with a small number of 1×1 elements including a couple of printed ones featuring frogs and lilypads.
With each build being inspired by a Disney Princess, the characters in question are also included in the set. They use the Mini-doll format for the top half of the character along with a new set of elements for the dress-like bottom half. These transparent skirts can become containers by adding the lid, which doubles as an umbrella. They are odd elements, that work nicely a dresses but little else.
Review Round-up
Sets that offers something different of always welcomed and that’s certainly the case here. I also like the fact that different princesses have been included beyond the usual mix of Frozen and Cinderella. Another plus is the use of elements from other sets, with the DOTS bracelet perfectly connected to Tiana’s build. The set is only let done by Aurora’s build. Although there is nothing wrong with the actual build, it feels less useful compared to the other two builds. I’m sure younger Disney fans will be less concerned by the practical storage options of a buildable chest.
For
+ Offers something different
+ Nice combination of part
Against
– Some stickers pieces could have been printed
– Sleeping Beauty’s build seems a little pointless compared to the other two
