For a number of years, DK Books have been publishing a series of LEGO® books under the Ideas banner. Previous titles have included LEGO Christmas Ideas, LEGO Halloween Ideas and LEGO Cute Ideas. Each book featured an exclusive minibuild model and a selection of inspirational build ideas, in keeping with the theme of the book, which can be built with your own LEGO bricks. The latest addition to the series is LEGO Magical Ideas, which is filled with enhancing build ideas and includes an exclusive Neon Dragon minibuild. Ahead of the book’s release next week, here is my review of it.

The Book
For the Ideas books, publisher DK Books have changed the format, which has resulted in a much smaller. Although a little more compact, it still includes 80 pages of build ideas, instructions for the included minibuild and a handy round-up of useful elements. As with other Ideas books, it doesn’t provide you with step-by-step instructions to build any of the models featured in the book, beyond the exclusive LEGO minibuild. Instead, it acts as a point of inspiration to help you build magical creations with the LEGO bricks you already own. Although it can be frustrating to recreate some of these builds, they aren’t meant to offer a step-by-step more of a creative starting point.
The Minibuild Set
The book includes a polybag of elements needed to build an exclusive Neon Dragon model. In a similar fashion to the Cute Ideas book, this is a made-up creature. I think the most eye-catching feature of this little build is the colour of the bricks used. A mix of pastel and grey elements shouldn’t work but they sort of do, a least it gives the dragon a unique appearance.
