LEGO® fandom has expanded far beyond the brick and there have been some weird and wonderful LEGO merchandise in recent years. Some of the most intriguing products have come from Chronicle Books, which have taken a unique approach to bringing the LEGO brand to different audiences. Joining their range of LEGO stationery, art books and puzzles is a set of LEGO-themed playing cards. Chronicle has kindly sent me a set of the LEGO Brick Playing Cards to take check out. So here’s a hands-on look at them.
The Brick Playing Cards set features two packs of playing cards. One themed with warm colours and the other cool colours. Now there isn’t much you can do to playing cards, there must be a set amount of them in a deck and they must feature a series of suits and face cards. The LEGO twist comes with the cards backing, which features a brick pattern and the face cards which feature LEGO Minifigure versions of the Kings, Queens, Jacks and Jokers. The suit cards are certainly more colourful than most playing cards but there isn’t much of a LEGO connection with them. They merely offer a fun take on the humble playing card and a perfect little gift for any LEGO fan. The LEGO Brick Playing Cards are available now from Amazon and selected retailers.
