Over the weekend some of the new LEGO® Star Wars were officially revealed and many have noticed the odd name on Boba Fett’s iconic ship. Instead of being dubbed Slave I, it carries the snappy name of Boba Fett’s Starship. It appears the reason for this is solely down to Disney, who have asked the LEGO Group and a number of other merchandise partners to drop the Slave name from products featuring the Bounty Hunter’s ride. But this isn’t the first time a LEGO set has featured a name not befitting what many fans would assume it should be called. Here’s a brief look at some other LEGO sets with different names.
75292: The Mandalorian Bounty Hunter Transport aka The Razor Crest
The Mandalorian has been a cultural phenomenon since it first appears on Disney+ in 2019. It’s no surprise that the character and vehicles from the show have inspired a number of products including many LEGO sets. One of the most prolific is Mando’s ship The Razor Crest. Despite the LEGO sets based on the ship carrying the name on the box, the product listing is called The Mandalorian Bounty Hunter Transport. The switch of the name was due to someone register a trademark on the Razor Crest name in Germany, in connection to a MOC inspired by the ship. It’s been reported that Disney has rightly fought the trademark and regained the name but the listing of the set still carries the generic name.
Some ships are less known for their names in Star Wars so they also feature a more generic name. This often uses the characters name instead of the name the ship which may have been briefly mentioned in official Star Wars canon. Here’s just a few of them.

71366: Boomer Bill Barrage aka Bullet Bill, Banzai Bill or Bombshell Bill
Over in the Mushroom Kingdom as a number of iconic Mario foe have been transformed into various LEGO playsets and characters. I’ve been playing the Mario games for many, many years but even I was confused by the term Boomer Bill. I assume it was a character from one of the more recent titles. But no, the Boomer Bill name doesn’t officially exist in the Mario universe. The character is mostly known as Bullet Bill and sometimes Banzai or Bombshell Bill. I can only assume it was inappropriate to use terms like bullet or banzai on products aimed at kids.
LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham DLC
It’s not just physical LEGO products that have been affected by a change of name. One of the DLC packs for LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham was based on the Suicide Squad characters. Although it featured the characters which made up the villainous band of bad guys, the LEGO version was simply dubbed The Squad.
