LEGO Star Wars Game Devs Sold To EA

The LEGO® Star Wars game saga has hit a new chapter today as mobile studio Playdemic, which was purchased by TT Games in 2016, has been sold to EA Games. The mobile-focused studio was brought on board to develop LEGO titles for mobile platforms and was behind the now-defunct LEGO Star Wars Battle game. This title was only released in a limited number of countries before it was quietly announced it was being shut down a few weeks ago. We now know the reason for the closure of the game is the sale of the development studio to EA Games. This leaves TT Games, TT Fusion and TT Odyssey who between them haven’t released a game in nearly two years. Recently the LEGO Group has begun to work with other developers to create LEGO-focused games, including Playground Games, Light Box Studio, Gameloft, Red Games and NimbleBit. Hopefully, the $1.4 billion EA paid for Playdemic will help TT Games and WB Games finally finish The Skywalker Saga.
