Old MacDonald may have had a farm but he didn’t have the first-ever LEGO® System Sheep. My reviews of the brand new LEGO Disney Mickey & Friends theme continues, with possibly the most anticipated of the five sets. The excitement for this particular set spans beyond the Minifigures and is focused on one of the animal figures included in the set. But the set is far more than just a sheep, so here’s a closer look at set 10775: Mickey Mouse & Donald Duck’s Farm.

As mentioned in my review of the Fire Truck and Station set, there is little point in detailing the build process. These 4+ sets are designed to introduce younger builders to the wonderful world of LEGO building. The key focus is something dubbed a Starter Brick, this set contains two, one being the base of the tractor and the other being the base of the barn. They offer a simple start to a build as well as unique elements not normally feature in other LEGO themes but could be useful in the world of MOCs. Another good thing about the 4+ sets are the complete lack of stickers, instead, elements feature print detail. Once built the set offers a simple barn, along with a couple of fences, a chicken coop and a tractor.
There will be plenty of AFOLs who grab this set for the Minifigures and the sheep, but it also has some unique and rare pieces. They include those Starter Bricks, a couple of the new tyres, a new wheel barrel, the printed wall elements and of course the horse and sheep. There are also a couple of less obvious pieces which may be of interest, these include a 1x2x5 brick appearing here for the first time in yellowish-orange. There’s also a new drum winch, which allows a stud-ended string to be connected to it, along with a Mickey Head Symbol brick.
Although the second biggest set in the range, it only includes two Minifigures. As the name of the set suggests that are Mickey and Donald. Both are exclusive to this set, although both use past heads, their bodies are all-new. Both have a farming vibe to them, with Mickey in a pair of blue overalls over a red shirt. Donald has a checkered shirt. Unfornetly, he doesn’t feature his tail element which is a shame.
There may only be two Minifigures but they are joined by a number of farmyard critters. These include a chicken and a rabbit, along with a horse. This may use the classic horse form but is in the little-used Brick Yellow colouring. This was introduced in the LEGO Idea Medieval Blacksmith set. But we all know who the star of the set is – a simple little sheep. Yes, this woolly mammal is the first-ever System sheep and as we know LEGO animals are extremely popular. Hopefully, its introduction in this set will see it appear elsewhere.
There will be those who wonder why such cool variant Minifigures are included in a 4+ set. But in all honesty, they are the perfect vehicle for them. They wouldn’t make sense in a Collectible Minifigure Series, nor would they warrant an elaborate large-scale farm, space etc. These fun little sets are delightful, this one is particularly fantastic due to that new sheep, a rare horse and of course two new variant Disney Minifigures. The set is available now in most regions and will be available in North America from August 1st.
