Despite being a fairly recent addition to the world of Marvel, Miles Morales has become a much-loved character. However, he’s only appeared in a couple of LEGO® sets and most recently featured in a special Comic-Con style pack, given away by Sony. But there is a far easier way to add Miles to your collection, thanks to the second wave of LEGO Marvel Mech Armour Suits. Introduced earlier this year, the Mech Suit sub-theme clads iconic Marvel characters in special suits, inspired by their costumes. Following on from the Iron Man, Thanos and Spider-Man Mech Armour Suits, the second wave includes three more characters including Miles Morales. So let’s see what the set has to offer in another 2021 set review.
Product Description
Any young superhero will love the LEGO® Spider-Man Miles Morales Mech Armour (76171). Featuring alternative Spider-Man Miles Morales and his buildable mech with extra-long electro-web, the hands-on imaginative play will never end.
Web-zapping Spider-Man mech adventures
This versatile superhero gift partners kids with Miles Morales – the Spider-Man with the electric-shock webs – for endless adventures battling super villains and saving the world. Whenever more size and power is required, kids place the Miles Morales minifigure into the cockpit of his mighty mech. The movable mech’s super-sized electro-web is the perfect way for kids to zap villains as they relive favourite movie scenes and battle other mechs in their collection. For extra fun, the downloadable LEGO Building Instructions app includes digital Instructions PLUS, which allows kids to zoom, rotate and visualize their playset as they build.

The Build
As is always the case with the world of toys, there are often products created, which have little to no connection to the original source material. Something which is certainly the case with these Mech Suit sets. But that’s not to say that is a bad thing. The set features a buildable, articulated suit, along with a Minifigure, which can be slotted inside to pilot it, by flipping down the chest plate. This particular one is based on the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man.
Of the six different Mech Suit set, the Miles Morales version is a lot sleeker. Although the base of the build is similar across all the sets, the Miles Morales has slightly thinner legs and smaller feet, the rest of the suit is also a little less bulky. Despite this, you can still pose the suit in many different ways, thanks to articulation points in the feet, knees, legs, arms and fingers. Although much of the suit follows the same style as Miles’ black and red Spider-Man suit, the colour scheme is broken up with flashes of blue, thanks to the various transparent ‘power’ elements. These are mainly web-based pieces, which slot into the back, legs and hands of the Mech Suit. My favourite has to be the web-blast, which can be fitted onto the hand of suit or into the hand of the Miles Morales Minifigure.
The Minifigure
One of the best things about the set has to the Miles Morales Minifigure. The version included here is totally unique not appearing in other sets and also being a variant of the usual outfit Miles is seen wearing. At some points in the comics, games and animations, Miles can be seen sporting a hoodie over his version of the Spider-Man suit. Which has inspired the look of the Minifigure included in this set. You can see his Spidey Suit just poking through his unzipped hoodie top, which is continued with a hood element, there is also a Spider-Man inspired logo printed on the back of the torso. The dual-moulded legs are just plain grey and black, but make sense when combined with the hoodie. It’s certainly nice to get such a unique version of the character in Minifigure-form, in a wallet-friendly set. The Miles Morales Mech Suit Armour set will be available from January 1st.
