Fairy Bricks have donated a 60,000 piece LEGO® replica of Evelina London Children’s Hospital. The brick-built recreation of the hospital features over 200 Minifigures of patients and staff. The model was designed and constructed by Gary Davis, who has built many wonder LEGO creations over the years.
The model has many of the features from the real building, with interior details including the main entrance, reception areas and central walkway on the ground and first floor. It also replicates the examination room, offices, a laboratory, the paediatric intensive care unit, the staff area, as well as the third floor atrium which houses the Evelina London school, a coffee shop and the Radio Lollipop recording studio. The model features a cutaway, cross sectional view of the wards to give a view of the inner workings of the hospital. Hospital staff got involved by making beds for the wards out of LEGO bricks and creating different minifigures to represent themselves and patients.
The LEGO model will be on display at Evelina London Hospital until September this year, before being taken to Skærbæk in Denmark, then returning to the UK for the Great Western LEGO Show in Swindon.
