I’m a sucker for original LEGO® IPs, these story-driven themes are often packed with amazing builds, awesome Minifigures and interesting storylines. But did you know that all these themes are actually connected in some way. The recently released LEGO City Mars Exploration sets feature a supposedly nameless crew member Minifigure. But turns out he’s actually called Dr Ogel, a name some LEGO fans may have heard before. Apart from the obvious, it’s LEGO spelt backwards, Ogel is the villain of the Alpha Team theme; he’s also a direct descendant of the Kingdom Knights II big bad, Lord Vladek. But it goes even deeper than that, long before the MCU, it seems LEGO Designers were secretly building their own connected universe. Something with Eurobrick user TalonCard has documented in great detail.

• Although the LEGO themes have been released across multiple years, canonically the thread begins with the Egyptian theme, Pharaoh’s Quest. Pharaoh Amset-Ra, a character in the theme, forms an alliance alien leader Hypaxxus-8, to help him construct the Pyramids. (Pharaoh’s Quest)
• Hypaxxus-8 would supply the weapons for the Manta Warriors from the LEGO Atlantis theme. (Atlantis)
• The Monster Fighters, lead by Dr Rodney Rathbone, defeat Lord Vampyre and his monstrous crew. But the victory attracts the attention of a insectoid alien race. (Monster Fighters)

• Many years later Hypaxxus-8 would resurface and launch a full scale attack on earth. The Alien Defence Unit break cover to take on the thread and save Earth. (Alien Conquest)
• With the ADU on the scene, Hypaxxus-8 open portals which bring forth prehistoric dinosaurs. (Dino)

• Hypaxxus-8 wouldn’t be the only threat from outer space, attracted by the events of Monster Fighters, The Insectoids attack the Selva Galaxy, the team from Galaxy Squad are dispatched to take them on. (Galaxy Squad)
• Many years later, highly decorated Galaxy Squad hero Solomon Blaze, heads up a new secret agent team called Ultra Agents. These highly skilled agents take on evil super villains. (Ultra Agents)

• Some of these villains head to the realm of NINJAGO where they become elemental masters and takepart in the Tournament of Elements. (NINJAGO)
• The Legend of CHIMA exists in the same realm as NINJAGO. (Legend of CHIMA)
• Rumours suggest the town of Newbury is built upon the same lands where the Monster Realm once sat. Spiritual energy from the Moon Stones has awakened and unleashes ghostly forces. (Hidden Side)
