Big Ideas: Thunderbirds Are Go

5-4-3-2-1 Thunderbirds are go! Those words would mean you were about to join International Rescue on another exciting adventure. The classic 60s show has an enduring appealing, which has seen the original episodes gain an all new audience in the 90s and even today, the world created by Gerry Anderson has been reimagined as a CGI show. Whatever your age, you’ll know what Thunderbirds is. Which makes this LEGO® Ideas project so cool. It’s been created by Andrew Clark, the man behind both the Doctor Who and Flintstones Ideas projects. His latest project recreates the iconic Thunderbird 2 vehicle, along with its various pod-based support vehicles. It’s the perfect fit for LEGO and Andrew has created a project which has a wide ranging age appeal, as well as looking fun to build and play with. It’s so close to reaching the required 10,000 supporters, so if you like Thunderbirds head over to LEGO Ideas to show your support for this F.A.B project.

  1. I really hope this one makes the grade – I’d reserve a box now if it was available today. It’s a great looking set and everyone knows that Thunderbird 2 is the best! T4 is super cute too!

I’d love to see a larger scale version in Technic with Power Functions. I’m not sure the legs could function properly under the weight, though. And I’d cry at the price tag.

  2. In the words of Futurama’s Fry, come on Lego – “shut up and take my money” and please make this asap!
