Yesterday we began to take a look at the new range of LEGO® titles from new LEGO publishing partner Centum Books. After taking a closer look at the LEGO NINJAGO Activity Book, today we set our sights on LEGO City. Then over the next few days we’ll be reviewing the each of the other new LEGO books, which include activity books, complete with LEGO Minifigures or masses of stickers. LEGO City is a long-standing theme, with a wide variety of things going on across the bustling metropolis. With the LEGO City Police Department featuring heavily in a number sets and who also provide the inspiration for this new book. The book contains a nice mix of activities, puzzle and comics plus a LEGO City Minifigure.

The Book
The book follows the adventures of famous LCPD hero Chase McCain has he heads up to the mountains to help the local Mountain Police track down the bad guys. Chase and his fellow officers are the basis for a couple of fun stories and a number of different puzzles and activities. I like how a number of LEGO sets and characters are featured in the illustrations which accompany every page of the book. It really adds something to the book to have bespoke bits of art in place of physical LEGO images. Plus the illustrations add a little extra character to the stories and activities.
The Minifigure
The LEGO City Activity Book includes a LEGO City Mountain Police ranger Minifigure and a random selection of LEGO bricks. The ranger has a rugged tashe adorned face and a detailed torso, with great print detail on both the front and back. Accessories include a radio, handcuff and a Mountie-type hat. As mentioned above there’s also four random LEGO bricks – 2 brown 2×3 plates, a blue 1×4 brick and a 2×2 yellow plate. They are nothing to do with the Minifigure and you can’t really build anything with them but it’s who doesn’t like extra LEGO pieces.
Overall
Just like the LEGO NINJAGO Activity Book, the LEGO City version is also filled the lovely bespoke illustrations, that really add to the books appeal. The content is fun and in keeping with the fun nature of the LEGO brand, with puzzles and comics offering plenty of fun for younger LEGO fans. Plus the minifigure is fun as well.
