Although the LEGO® Marvel theme has been transforming icon Marvel moments into LEGO sets for 10 years, one of the ‘House of Ideas’ most popular gang of super-powered folk have been vastly underserved. To date, the X-Men have only appeared in three other LEGO sets, with the last being the 2017 Mighty Micros set. So when it was revealed Wolverine would be the focus of a new Mech Suit set, fans were super excited. The set was originally meant to be released back in January before an issue with the set was discovered and its release was delayed until April 1st. So here’s a look at the Wolverine Mech Armor set

The Mech Armour suits follows a similar style of build, with various jointed sections creating a mechanized suit. Flipping down the chest plate reveals a section to place the Minifigure pilot. The various points of articulation give it plenty of scope to be posed in numerous ways. There are also a couple of printed elements including a 2×2 round plate on the chest, featuring the X-Men insignia and a 1×2 plate on the belt area.
The minifigure slots neatly into the mech armour and is kept in place with the hinged chest plate. As you can see the ‘stability issues’ have certainly been addressed. The various jointed aspects of the suit allow it to be posed in various ways. Comparing the set to images still attached to the official product listing on LEGO.com would suggest the connection between the legs and the body of the suit has been changed.
Of the three standard-sized Wolverine minifigures, this marks the third outfit for Logan. It closely resembles the outfit worn by Wolverine in the 1992 run of comics, known commonly as Classic Yellow II it could also be tied to the cult animated X-men series. This puts Logan in a largely yellow costume, with minimal blue trim and a red belt, as well as the finned helmet mask. This has only been used on the Wolverine minifigure featured in the 2014 X-Men Vs. The Sentinel set. He also has two expressions, once with the white eyes, which perfectly pairs with the helmet and the other a standard yet grizzled face.
Review Round-up
A welcome return for the X-Men and it’s nice to have a different Marvel character in a set instead of the endless run of Spider-Man and Iron Man. The delay of the set has certainly helped to solve any stability issues around the body of the set, although the claw can easily fly off if slightly knocked.
For

+ Plenty of posing options
Against
