One of the smallest of the new LEGO® Friends sets is inspired by a hip new drinks trend known as bubble teas. Instead of being sold from a fancy cafe or restaurant, they are being sold from a sweet little mobile trailer. Although a small set, it’s certainly full of detail so here’s a look at the Mobile Bubble Tea Shop.

The newly rebooted LEGO Friends sets certainly feature a spread of different-sized builds and one of the smallest is the Mobile Bubble Tea Shop. It’s inspired by the bubble tea trend which is a drink from Taiwan. It’s been around since the 80s but has become the ‘in thing’ just recently and that includes down in Heartlake City.
The set comprises of a compact trailer and a couple of small buildable accessories. Unlike some of the past Friends food trucks, this one is much smaller. Despite the small build it has some neat little details, in particular the area where drinks machine is found. The interior is certainly compact but there’s enough room to place a mini-doll and you can get a little better access by folding back the curved roof and the small entry door on the back of the trailer. Oddly, the whole thing is pulled by a small electric scooter. It seems a little bit of a stretch but at least it maintains the fresh and hip vibes of the overall set.
My favourite part of the set is a small smiley oversized version of a bubble tea cup. It uses a uniquely coloured version of the R2 Droid body and a couple of arms often found in the Mario set. Two stickers are used to add detail to the character, which is technically an advertising board as one side features a happy face and the other a menu board.
The set includes 2 mini-dolls, both of which are exclusive to this set. Nova is one of the main new characters and does appear in other sets but here she’s wearing a unique torso. She’s joined by a unique called Matilde, this resident of Heartlake City is the owner of the Mobile Bubble Tea Shop and uses a unique torso, legs and head. Her hair can be removed and replaced with a helmet. The mini-dolls certainly look odd with just a helmet, I certainly prefer the helmet elements which also includes some hair.
Overall
It’s a nice little pocket-money-friendly set that offers something unique in terms of both mini-doll characters. I still question the ability to pull a trailer with an electric scooter. But I guess it keeps the set small and thus maintains a smaller price point. I also like that despite the set being quite small and compact it’s nicely detailed. Definitely, a great little taster set for the new rebooted Friends theme.
