For many years, the festive season has been celebrated with several seasonal LEGO® sets. Christmas builds have included the annual Winter Village buildings, festive characters and decorations. This year is no different but there’s a running theme of plants. Along with the two Botanicals sets, there’s also another plant-themed build which can be used to jazz up a table this Christmas. Here’s a closer look at the LEGO Christmas Table Decoration set.

Oddly, despite being a plant-themed set, the Christmas Table Decoration isn’t part of the ever-evolving Botanical Collection. Instead, it’s a seasonal set and has more in common with the original wreath released in 2020. The build begins with the set’s base, which creates a platform for the rest of the foliage to be added.
The leaves and berries are added to the base in various ways. Some slot into holes, some are connected via ball joints, and others are connected directly to the base. Regardless of how they are connected, there is a degree of freedom in how they are positioned. I did find that some of the plant-like pieces tended to pop off far too easily. Thankfully, once they are in place, the build is fairly solid.
I guess what sets the Christmas Table Decoration apart from the botanical set is the addition of a candle. This uses red rounded half-wall elements to create the shaft of the candle and is topped with a recoloured ‘icing topper’ plate. This element was originally used as a cake topper in a Friends set and does an excellent job of replicating the melting wax of a candle.
As with other seasonal sets, the Christmas Table Decoration is something which can be brought out yearly to celebrate the festive period. It’s big enough to bring a little uniqueness to the Christmas table but can also be used to brighten up a sideboard or window sill. The only downside to the set is the price, it feels like it is overpriced for what it offers. It does feature a lot of plant-type elements but I wouldn’t consider these special pieces, which would warrant a higher price. The Christmas Table Decoration set is available now from LEGO stores and LEGO.com.
