Since their introduction ten years ago, there have been almost 350 different BrickHeadz characters. They transform popular characters into stylised brick-built figures, and the latest to join the line-up are inspired by Marvel Studios’ latest MCU instalment, Avengers: Doomsday. There are plenty of characters to choose from, but this four-pack includes Thor, the Fantastic Four’s The Thing, the X-Men’s Gambit, and the MCU’s latest big bad, Doctor Victor Von Doom. Ahead of its release on October 4th, here’s a look at the LEGO® BrickHeadz set, Avengers: Doomsday: Heroes & Villains.

After 10 years and well over 300 sets, you’ll most likely have built or at least seen a BrickHeadz figure. But just in case you haven’t, they offer a unique, stylised take on iconic characters from TV and films. Despite the varied array of characters transformed into BrickHeadz, they all feature similar design traits, including trademark eyes, a hidden brain and display plate, along with their cubic shape. This makes their builds fairly similar, yet each character still offers something unique, and that’s nicely shown in a set featuring more than one character. This set includes four characters from Doomsday – Thor, The Thing, Gambit and Doctor Doom.
Thor
Amazingly, despite starring in three standalone films and being a founding member of the MCU’s Avengers, this is Thor’s first outing as a BrickHeadz character. After several looks, the God of Thunder has settled upon short hair and a suit partly inspired by his classic comic book appearance. This includes a red cape and roundels on his chest. Here, these are printed 1×1 round tiles. Thor’s build is a little different to normal BrickHeadz. This is so his beard can be integrated into the head via elements and not printed. Thor also includes a bolt of lightning and Stormbreaker.
The Thing
The MCU’s version of The Thing as Ben Grimm’s alter ego wearing the classic comic book Fantastic 4 suit. This is included here via a mix of blue and white elements along with a printed plate to add the Fantastic 4 branding. Despite the character’s bulky size, The Thing’s BrickHeadz is the smallest of the four characters featured in this set. It’s a decent take on the character, but I can’t help thinking the powered-up version of the Human Torch would have made a really cool BrickHeadz set.
Gambit
Gambit is a much-loved part of the Marvel universe, but has been underserved in live-action until Deadpool’s MCU debut alongside Wolverine. Here, he’s introduced as a variant who has been sent to the Void by the TVA. The character will return in Doomsday. Gambit’s Cajun style includes a long brown trench coat and a distinctive headpiece, which covers most of his head. It might not be the most colourful character, but it’s great fun to build. It’s a shame it lacks his trademark playing cards.
Doctor Doom
Many of the Marvel BrickHeadz have focused on the heroic side of the MCU. But when you have a big bad as iconic as Doctor Doom, then you have to include him in a set. Doom is famously clad in an armoured suit, which is mostly shown on the BrickHeadz head. This uses a couple of printed piece, which includes metallic detail. This is shrouded in Doom’s iconic green hooded cape. Doom’s mystic powers are shown via two bright green crystal elements, which are fixed to the BrickHeadz hands.
The Verdict
You either like BrickHeadz or you don’t. I personally enjoy them and have collected all of the easily available sets since they launched. So I like that they have become a regular theme. In essence, they are a LEGO take on Funko Pops. This Doomsday-inspired pack includes an interesting mix of characters. I still find it amazing that this is Thor first time as a BrickHeadz character. Gambit may not look very exciting, but he is the best character to build, and I like the details on Doom. The LEGO Marvel Doomsday BrickHeadz pack will be available on October 4th.
