The truth is out there as the latest LEGO® Ideas set is officially revealed today. The X-Files took the 90s by storm, following two federal agents, Mulder and Scully, as they investigated the weird and wonderful. The X-Files remains a beloved series, and that love helped it to become one of the winning fan designs for the LEGO Ideas 90s Throwback Challenge. Inspired by fan design Brent Waller, The X-Files set features Fox Mulder’s basement office, which is packed with fun Easter Eggs for fans of The X-Files. Above is a forest clearing and hovering alien craft. The set also features 8 minifigures, including Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, along with Director Walter Skinner, Mr X, Carl Busch aka the Smoking Man, Krycek and the Flukeman, plus a Grey Alien. It’s the perfect set for fans of the series.
That’s not all; during the set’s launch week, you’ll also be able to pick up a second GWP X-Files set. Scully’s Lab is a smaller set featuring Agent Scully’s workspace and an exclusive Medical Examiner Scully minifigure. BILLUND, DENMARK, 21 JULY 2026: The LEGO Group, in collaboration with Disney Entertainment, today unveils the LEGO® Ideas The X-Files (21369) set, a 1,478-piece model that invites adult fans to celebrate the iconic ‘90s sci-fi drama.
To mark the reveal, Emmy Award-winning actor, Gillian Anderson, stars in a cinematic mini-film tribute to the beloved series. With a nod to FBI Special Agent Dana Scully, Anderson is drawn into an investigation that gradually leads her to uncover the LEGO set itself, piece by piece – bringing the world of The X-Files into brick-built form for the fans.
The LEGO Ideas The X-Files set recreates iconic moments from the series, centred on a detailed build of Fox Mulder’s office, paired with a forest clearing scene and a hovering UFO. The set includes 8 Minifigures: Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, Walter Skinner, Mr. X, Alex Krycek, Carl Busch, The Flukeman and a grey alien, allowing fans to recreate key investigations and encounters.
The build is rich in authentic detail, including the “The Truth is Out There” tile, an “I Want to Believe” poster, an X-Files dossier, a nod to his sunflower seed habit, and pencils in the ceiling of Mulder’s office.
The set also offers versatile display options. The forest diorama can be showcased on its own, while Mulder’s office can be opened or partially disassembled to reveal interior details. The UFO is mounted on a transparent stand, creating the illusion that is hovering above the forest, but it can also be removed from alternative display arrangements, as a striking dual-display presentation.
Anderson comments: “I didn’t expect to be stepping back into Scully’s heels to investigate a LEGO set… it has been so much fun revisiting that world all these years later. This set is a wonderful celebration of the X-Files, and the fans who have kept its mystery alive. The level of detail is brilliant – there are so many little nods that fans will absolutely recognise – and as a LEGO fan myself, I love that people can now quite literally build their own X-Files moments at home.”
The LEGO Ideas The X-Files set was submitted as part of the LEGO Ideas ’90s Nostalgia Challenge by Brisbane-based 3D Artist and Fan Designer Brent Waller (LEGO Ideas name: wetwired). LEGO Ideas invites fans to submit product ideas, which are then voted on by the community before being considered for production as official LEGO sets.
Brent Waller comments: “I was obsessed with The X-Files from the moment I first saw it in the ’90s. I originally built Mulder’s office back in 2014 while rewatching the series, and it grew from there as a personal project. I wanted to combine nostalgia, detail and storytelling to capture the atmosphere of the show – from Mulder’s office to the forest and UFO encounter. I’m thrilled to see it become an official LEGO set and hope it resonates with both long-time fans and new audiences.”
