The second of the LEGO Batman Legendary Batmobile Collection set reviews: it’s time to take a trip to 2016 and the Batman buff-and-bleak period. This was when Batman decided to take on the alien god Superman, until they bonded over their mothers’ shared name. Dawn of Justice and its companion movies were certainly a unique period for the DC Extended Universe, and that’s certainly the case for the film’s Batmobile. Unlike earlier Batmobiles, the BvS Batmobile has more of a military vibe. It’s also not the first time the vehicle has appeared in LEGO form. Here’s a closer look at the Batman V Superman Batmobile.

There was a LEGO version of the BvS Batmobile released back in 2016, along with a smaller version in a polybag. Both were mostly coloured black, as is the usual colour for most Batmobiles. But it seems the vehicle was not actually black but very, very dark grey. To be fair, it’s hard to tell what colour it actually was in the film, thanks to its almost monotone colourscape. The vehicle’s colour scheme and unusual shape result in another unique Batmobile.
It’s very angular, and this has been pulled off exceptionally well. The vehicle’s harsh edges are faithfully achieved with the use of fins and triangular slopes. Even the method of implementing the wheels is unique. As you begin building the Batmobile, you’ll notice a pair of seemingly long Technic axles, but once the tyres are added and the surrounding elements are in place, these are neatly incorporated into the build.
The gritty and colourless world of Batman V Superman sees the Dark Knight’s usual Batsuit bulked up with a lot more armour. This is shown by the addition of shoulder armour. The rest of Batman’s armour is shown on this torso and legs. As with all the recent Batman minifigures, the newer style cowl is used. I prefer the ‘built-in’ white eyes, which also means you get two proper expressions on the face. Although the smiling one seems out of place in the joyless world BvS inhabits. I do like the longer cape.
Beyond the build, the set also offers unlockable content for the upcoming LEGO Batman video game. Scanning the set’s instructions allows you to gain access to a golden version of the BvS Batmobile in the Legacy of the Dark Knight game. Instructions to access the contents can be followed once the QR code is scanned.
Despite the Batman V Superman film having a passionate fan base, it’s not held in the same esteem as Batman’s other adventures. The same could be said for the film’s Batmobile, but it still offers a cool LEGO build. In fact, of the three Legendary Batmobiles being released next month, this is the most interesting to build. It also has a great minifigure; the way the bulkier Batsuit has been replicated works better than previous versions.
