The first LEGO® Sunflowers appeared in 2022 as one of the smaller non-Botanicals sets. Sunflowers were also the focus of last year’s LEGO Ideas set inspired by Van Gogh’s painting of them. Now, the bright Summer blooms are the focus of a new LEGO Botanicals set. This time, there’s a bouquet of Sunflowers joined by sprigs of eucalyptus. Here’s an early look at the Sunflowers Bouquet set.

Brick-built Sunflowers aren’t anything new, but this new collection isn’t just a larger bunch of the previous ones. Split across 4 bags, the set offers six Sunflowers in varying stages of bloom. This is a trend found across many of the LEGO Botanicals sets, and whilst ‘unblossomed’ flowers may not look as exciting, they do offer some variety to the build process. That’s also true for the addition of eucalyptus stems.
Similar to the Sunflowers, the eucalyptus are also shown in different forms. There are two varieties of the fragrant plant, with both the longer leaf and disc-like leaves. The eucalyptus stems also feature seedlings, which use recoloured cherry elements mounted on flower stems. They are a little fiddling to piece together, but they do look great nestled amongst the Sunflowers.
The Sunflowers are great fun to build. They all use the yellow leaf elements, which are connected around a central plate. Two of these are slotted on top of each other to help create the Sunflowers’ dense spread of petals. But my favourite part of the Sunflowers is their centres. Unlike many flowers, Sunflowers have a large centre filled with seeds. To recreate this, brown studs are layered over a larger circular plate. Very simple but super effective.
The most difficult part of the set is building the Sunflower bulb. This yet-to-blossom Sunflower uses smaller yellow leaf elements, including a new, smaller, single leaf/petal. But it’s the green element which surrounds them which are harder to place. The instructions do a good enough job of showing how they must be positioned, but they are still tricky to place.
Together, the LEGO sunflowers and eucalyptus create a visually impressive display. I can see why the two plants are often paired together. The long, leafless stems make them ideal items to stand in a vase, and thanks to the different angles and sizes of the sunflowers, they can be arranged neatly. They may not be as colourful as other LEGO Botanicals sets, but thanks to the size of the flowers and elements used to create them, it would still make a striking display piece.
