During the closing moments of the 5th episode of The Mandalorians first season, the return of an iconic bounty hunter was first teased. It wouldn’t be until the opening episode of the second season that we learn the mysterious Mandalorian was, in fact, the Marshal of Mos Pelgo, now known as Freetown. Cobb Vanth purchased Boba Fett’s old armour from a group of Jawas. He then teams up with the Mandalorian to rid Freetown of the Krayt Dragon. Cobb Vanth’s first appearance inspires this upcoming LEGO® Star Wars set, but oddly, also his return in The Book of Boba Fett. Here’s a look at set 75437: Cobb Vanth’s Speeder.

With Mando agreeing to help Marshal Vanth, the pair ride off across the dune seas of Tatooine. The Mandalorian rides a classic-style Speeder, with Cobb Vanth riding what is best described as a modified Podracer engine. This unusual-looking Speeder features the yellow flaps, which are prominent on Anakin Skywalker’s Podracer. These sit in front of Speeder. The body of it is much broader than most Speeders. This is partly due to the cobbled-together nature of the vehicle.
Unlike most Speeders, the rider is seated on a separate section, which is mounted on the side of the main section of the Speeder. The rest of the vehicle continues with the ragtag nature of the Speeder. But the odd combination of colours works for matching the design of how the Speeder is shown on screen. The chunkier body is used to hide a small compartment. Here you’ll find a carton of Bantha Milk and an orange-like fruit. These are fun additions, but they add little overall to the set. Although the printed brick used for the Bantha Milk is quite rare.
As mentioned, the set is clearly inspired by the season 1 episode, which introduced Cobb Vanth. As evidenced by Vanth wearing Fett’s armour and his Podracer Speeder. But for some strange reason, the set also includes Cad Bane. The bounty hunter visits Tatooine to warn off Vanth and keep the Spice lanes open. So, although both characters do meet, their appearances in this set are at odds with the episode of the Disney+ series that is clearly inspired by.
Despite this, they are decent minifigures. Cad Bane last appeared in a set back in 2022. This time around, the minifigure is based on the live-action version of the bounty hunter. This shows Bane with a paler blue face, but it does use the same hat and breather apparatus. Cad Bane has always had western vibes, but this version truly leans into that. This is Cobb Vanth’s first appearance as a minifigure. Despite the character wearing Fett’s armour, this isn’t simply Boba Fett’s body with a different head. Cobb’s armour shows heavy wear and tear. The battle damage continues on the helmet. This can be swapped for a grey hairpiece. It’s a shame that both a scarf piece and a jetpack element can’t be worn at the same time.
I would say this is yet another oversized Star Wars set. Not to the same extent as some of the most recent releases. But £25/$35/30€ for a single Speeder and 2 minifigures feels a little too pricey. You’d expect a second vehicle or random piece of scenery for that. That would make less sense than Cad Bane being included. To its credit, this set is a little more affordable way to acquire Cad Bane, at least. Plus Cobb Vanth’s debut is welcomed. Could his sudden appearance in a LEGO set hint at the character’s return in the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu film? I do like the Speeder build, though; it’s different enough from similar Speeders to offer something unique. I especially like the random hidden food stuff within the Speeder.
