76344: Iron Man Mark 3 Collectors’ Edition Set Review

Thanks to Iron Man’s importance to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tony Stark’s alter ego has been the subject of numerous LEGO sets. In fact, the character has been portrayed in several different forms. We’ve been treated to Iron Man’s helmet, a mini bust, a construction figure and the bulky Hulk Buster Suit. This set sits between the mini bust and figure, offering a unique displayable version of the Mark 3 Iron Man armour. This was developed by Stark during the events of the first Iron Man film. Along with the buildable version of the armour, the set includes a new minifigure version of Iron Man. Continuing the 2026 LEGO set reviews, here’s a closer look at the LEGO Marvel Iron Man Mark 3 Collector’s Edition set.

The Mark 3 armour debuted during the first Iron Man and was created by Tony Stark to help him defeat the Ten Rings and later Obadiah Stane. The armour featured an advanced on-board weapons system and was finished in a mix of hot rod red and a gold-titanium alloy.

The build begins with the body of the armour, and as you proceed through constructing it, it’s built in sections. This allows you to pose the figure in various ways. Although the legs are fixed to the display base, from the waist up, there are various points of articulation. One thing which puzzled me when taking pictures of the set was why the arms seemed to sit differently. The reason is that the lower sections of each arm are mounted on a differently angled Technic angle joint. This lets you better recreate the iconic pose Iron Man takes when deploying this hand repulsor weapon.

Most of the armour’s detail is achieved with part use and colouring, but it does include a couple of printed elements. Yes, there are zero stickers in the set; instead, printed pieces include the arc reactor in the chest of the armour, the repulsor weapons in the hands and a couple of disc tiles located on the armour’s helmet and waist.

The base of the set is simple in both look and construction. It includes two pairs of connections upon which the legs of Iron Man are placed. Sometimes, when a base acts as an anchor point for a build, it needs elaborate construction to marry the two together. Here, it’s simply a Technic pin and small ball joints for each foot. The base also features a 2 x 6 printed tile, which features the LEGO Marvel logo and the name of the armour.

As the set is inspired by the Mark 3 suit, it’s not too much of a surprise that the included minifigure is based on the same suit. The last time the Mark 3 appeared in a set was in 2022. The latest version includes print detail on the arms and, amazingly, a new double-sided head. These include Tony’s smiley expression and the other with him sporting shades. There are plenty of spots on the base to stand the minifigure, but it looks best dead centre near the set’s printed plaque.

It would be easy to assume the recent Iron Man bust set has just been extended to include the rest of the body. Although they are similar in scale, this set is far more than that. In comparison to some of the other attempts to replicate Tony Stark’s suit collection in LEGO form, this is one of the best. I’m not entirely sure what makes it a ‘collector’s edition’; however, it’s a decent size, making it an impactful display piece and thankfully not one which is stupendously large. It also does an impressive job of capturing the sleek design of the MK III suit. But most of all, it’s quite fun to build. It uses some interesting techniques, and parts are used in clever ways to achieve various details. The Iron Man Mark 3 Collector’s Edition set launches on January 1st and can be pre-ordered now.
