The world of ONE PIECE is filled with a colourful cast of characters. In the first live-action Netflix series, we only meet a fraction of them. But it’s not just the people who provide interesting muses for LEGO® sets. The world they inhabit is as intriguing, blending classic aspects of pirate culture with modern flair and over-the-top architectural elements. As the largest of the LEGO ONE PIECE sets, the Baratie is a great example of that. The 18+ set recreates the unique restaurant ship and includes an impressive line-up of minifigures. Rounding off my reviews of the ONE PIECE sets, here’s a look around the Baratie and its minifigures.

The Baratie is a sea-faring restaurant, which provides some of the finest food anywhere on the Grand Line. It’s introduced during the fifth episode of the live-action Netflix series. Luffy and his reluctant crew are guided to Baratie after a run-in with the Marines. The restaurant is an interesting-looking structure. Technically, it’s a ship, but it drops anchor to become a well-known destination on the Grand Line.
In LEGO form, the Baratie’s unique design provides an interesting build experience. It’s built in sections, and at points these feel a little disconnected and unstable, but with the minimal use of additional elements, the whole structure is neatly strengthened. This is especially the case with the two end sections of the restaurant and the large panels which flank the main entrance to the ship.
Despite the exterior of the Baratie being crafted by different sections, they link together well to capture the restaurant’s unique appearance. I particularly like the entrance door, which is flanked by a pair of mermaid statues, which technically expands the set’s minifigure line-up. The entrance area is also home to a small section of deck. This includes a simple gear mechanism which rotates a couple of plates nestled with the surface of the deck.
The interior of the Baratie is easily accessed by the open-backed nature of the set. Despite being a much more compact take on the eatery, it’s backed with a lot of detail. The main focal point is the ornate dining hall. This is framed by a pair of twisting stairways along with two circular booths. These look great, but I found they easily become detached due to their placement near the edge of the set and by the means they are connected. Each side of the dining room includes detailed areas. To the left is the kitchen, which sits below an office. Both areas feature a lot of little details and a clever way to hide how the outer angled panel is held in place.
Over on the opposite side of the ship is its most unique and striking feature. A large fish head, with mouth opened aghast, doubles as a sort of open-air seating area. The clever use of gold-coloured tube pieces and curved elements looks great against the white of the fish’s head. However, it’s a little tricky to access the area from both the mouth section and from within the restaurant.
The set also includes a small coffin-like boat, used by the pirate lord, Mihawk. It’s not really focused upon in the Netflix series, but is best known from the manga. So its inclusion may seem a little odd. Still, it’s a nice extra to have.
Throughout the restaurant, you’ll find various things hanging on the walls. These features include both stickered and printed elements, including five randomly selected ‘wanted’ tiles. In total, there are 8 different tiles to collect. Despite building all five of the ONE PIECE sets, I still didn’t manage to get them all.
One of the most impressive things about the set it’s the minifigures it features. The set includes 10 minifigures, 12 if you include the mermaids incorporated into the detail of the restaurant. Of the named minifigures, 8 of them are exclusive to this set, and you’ll get the main crew. The most common of the characters are Nami and Usopp, who both appear in other sets. Luffy is technically a unique version of the character despite using the same legs and torso from other sets. Plus, he’s wearing his straw hat, this being one of only two sets in which he does so. The difference is his face, which features a happy or angry version.
A similar notion of the same but technically different can be said about Roronoa Zoro. The whole minifigures appeared in one other set, but you swap out the bright green hair for a black bandana. This looks cool once he’s also kitted out with his trio of swords, including the newly created piece, which clips around his neck. During the Baratie episode, pirate lord Mihawk is tasked with tracking down Luffy but faces off against Zoro. Mihawk is a great-looking character, and his unflinching demeanour is captured by his minifigure. This minifigure gets bonus points for his bare, cheated skin being nicely coloured despite being printed on a darker surface. The print detail on the is also nicely aligned with the small section featured on the legs. Mihawk’s stupendously large sword is a new piece, and it can be affixed to his back.
The Marines are represented by Vice Admiral Garp, Helmeppo and Koby. The two recruits use the same torso and legs. The Marines’ logo is printed on the backs. Making their uniforms feel more like something someone who works in a fast-food restaurant would wear. Helmeppo’s bowl cut hair is perfectly replicated with a piece normally used for female characters; in fact, the element is dubbed a ‘lady wig’. Koby’s hair is a recoloured piece first introduced in 2022. Garp is a great representation of the stern Marine Vice Admiral. His minifigure is quite plain, but the torso shows off his crisp white suit, finished off with a pair of red epaulettes.
The final two minifigures are Baratie head chef Zepp and his headstrong line cook, Sanji. Sanji appears in two sets; this unique version uses the same hair and head across both, but he is wearing his chef whites and apron. Zeff is another great minifigure; his wooden legs use the legs which feature one standard leg and one wooden peg; this version has previously appeared in one other set. Zeff’s unique facial hair is crafted from a new element which sits around the minifigure’s neck.
It’s an interesting set, but another costly one, and that’s probably its greatest flaw. The Baratie is a unique location, and a set of this size certainly does it justice. It also has an amazing line-up of minifigures. But it skirts a little too much between being a display piece and a playset. Still, it’s one of the best ONE PIECE just behind the Going Merry ship.
