Since 2010, the LEGO® Minifigures range has been providing LEGO fans with a range of unique characters. As well as original characters, LEGO Minifigures occasionally offer a series based on popular licensed themes such as Marvel. The first series of minifigures inspired by the Marvel universe was released in 2021 and focuses on characters from various Disney+ projects. This was followed up by a second series in 2023. Now it’s time to journey through the multiverse and delve into Sony’s corner of the Marvel universe with a new series of 12 minifigures inspired by the glorious animated Spider-Verse films.
Since the LEGO Minifigures made the switch from foil packets to boxes, their delivery has changed. You can now purchase them in outer boxes of 36, 12 or 6 minifigures. Although it’s not a 100% guarantee, a box of 36 should result in 3 full sets, the 6 packs will have 6 different characters, and the 12 pack will give you a full set. I’ve been provided with two of the 12-pack stack boxes, and they have included a full set in each.
The single packs also carry a scannable code near the barcode. Once they have been made readily available, there will be multiple means to scan the boxes to find the characters you require. Unfortunately, this won’t stop people from ripping boxes open in shops and stealing their contents.
I’ve often said in reviews of other special minifigure series that I would like to see them feature unique display plates. So it was a delight to find that the Spider-Verse minifigures can be displayed with transparent orange display plates. They look great on these unique bases.
It’s been extensively reported over the years that Sony holds the rights to Spider-Man and related characters. Although their live-action Marvel films have been a mixed bag, Sony Animation’s efforts have been incredible. The Spider-Verse films focus on Brooklyn’s Spider-Man, who isn’t Peter Parker but rather Miles Morales. Since the character’s introduction, he’s become almost as popular as the OG Spider-Man. Thanks in part to the animated films and Insomniac video games. The first Spider-Verse film featured several Spider-variants from different universes. This was greatly expanded on for its sequel, Across the Spider-Verse. This new Marvel minifigure series whittles them down to just 12 characters, many of them making their LEGO debut.

Miles Morales/Spider-Man
Miles is one of only two characters to have appeared in other sets, including the recent Miles Morales Vs. The Spot playset. This version of Miles does have him wearing the same suit as he wears in the aforementioned set, but it features his unique electric ‘Venom’ powers. These are shown through print detail on the masked head and torso, along with light blue hands. You can swap the masked head for Miles’ normal head and hair. His accessory is a black spider.
Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099
We briefly meet Spider-Man 2099 at the end of the Spider-Verse film. It’s later revealed that Miguel O’Hara is the founder of the Spider-Society. The character also interacts with Earth-13122’s Spider-Man, who is LEGO Spider-Man. The character’s spider suit is mostly blue with accents of red. He also sports a short cape, which is a thicker plastic piece secured around the neck of the minifigure. The masked head can be swapped out for another head and hair. Miguel’s two expressions are equally menacing, but the hair doesn’t match how it is shown in the animated film. In a nod to the character’s LEGO-themed scene, Spider-Man 2099 includes a microfig of a digital assistant, LYLA.
Gwen Stacy/Spider Gwen
Spider-Gwen isn’t too dissimilar to her many other versions, but this one is way more detailed than any previous takes on the character. This includes the addition of pink web print in the arms and dual moulded legs, giving the character turquoise trainers. The masked head and hood can be swapped out for Gwen’s normal head and a great hairpiece, which finally captures the character’s funky hairstyle, complete with pink tips. Gwen also includes a printed 2×2 tile featuring a picture of her and Miles.
Hobie Brown/Spider-Punk
Spider-Punk is the UK’s version of Spider-Man and calls New London on Earth-128 home. The music-themed anti-hero is one of the most detailed characters from this series of minifigures. The detail found on Hobie’s torso and legs is so intricate. The lack of print on many Marvel minifigure legs is more than made up for here. Hobie’s busy afro is a brand new element and can be paired with a dual expression head or swapped for the masked version. This also adds a mohawk to truly capture the pink look. Spider-Punk includes a guitar accessory, which continues with the impressive print detail.
Pavitr Prabhakar/Spider-Man India
Spider-Man India is one of the first Spider-People Miles meets when he follows Gwen to Mumbattan. The jolly Spider-Man has a great spider suit, and the hairpiece looks great with either version of Pavitr’s head. Pavitr is joined by a masked feline known as Spider-Man, who uses the fuffier cat elements and gives it a spider mask. As it lacks a costume, it looks like Spider-Cat from the Insomniac Spider-Man games.
Miles G. Morales/Prowler
Slight spoiler for the second Spider-Verse, but towards the end of the film, it’s revealed that Earth-42’s Miles Morales doesn’t become Spider-Man, instead taking on the mantle of the Prowler. So this minifigure is also Miles Morales, but the Prowler version. This features two large fist attachments and a unique element which combines the Prowler mask with Miles’ dreadlock hair. The mask can be swapped for just a hair element. The print detail on Prowler’s outfit is great, especially on the dual-moulded arms and legs. The outfit is finished off with a material collar, which sits pointing upward around the head. As well as the pair of fists, Prowler also includes a 2×2 round tile to represent a vinyl.
Peter B. Parker/Spider-Man & May “Mayday” Parker
Beyond Miles, Gwen and Miguel’s (post-credit) appearances, Peter B. Parker is the only other character from the first Spider-Verse film to appear in this series. Peter’s downtrodden appearance is perfectly captured in his minifigure. His basic Spider-Man suit can be seen under his light pink dressing gown. Dual moulded legs pair pink and white sections. This does mean there are flashes of pink around the blue part of Peter’s legs. But the dual moulded legs give the impression of the gown wrapping around his legs, which couldn’t be achieved with print detail. In the second film, Peter is joined by his young daughter May. It’s soon clear that she processes her father’s powers. May is a baby figure, and she can be slotted into a baby carrier and held by her dad.
Margo Kess/Spider-Byte
Spider-Byte hails from Earth-22191 and is in charge of operating the ‘Go Home Machine’ used by the Spider-Society. Margo comes from a tech-savvy world, and her spidey alter ego’s suit represents that. She has transparent arms and legs, which are decorated with purple detail. The colours look great together and are a great representation of her avatar guise. She uses the same head for both her masked and unmasked versions instead of using a hairpiece or a unique mask to reflect her secret identity. Along with the unique mask, Spider-Byte has a book cover panel, which is used here as a tablet device.
Peter Parker/Werewolf Spider-Man
Peter’s Werewolf variant calls Earth-7085 home but is briefly seen at the Spider-Society and helps in the pursuit of Miles. The minifigure uses the same wolf head used to create other versions of minifigure werewolves. This blends a lighter brown fur with remnants of Peter’s Spidey suit. The legs are quite cool as they are both dual moulded but two different colours, which help to show the patchy outfit work by the transformed Spider-Man.
Patrick O’Hara/Web-Slinger
The Web-Slinger is a western-themed Spider-Man from Earth-31913. It’s one of the least ‘spidery’ outfits of the Spider-People in this series. Dual moulded legs are used to create his boots and denim jeans. His yellow shirt is partly covered by a material poncho, which sits over Web-Slinger’s left shoulder. Similar to Pavitr, the Web-Slinger is also joined by additional members of the Spider-Society, and it’s another animal. Widow the Spider-Horse is briefly seen chasing Miles. The LEGO version is an infant version of the horse and, like Spider-Cat, simply places a spider mask on an animal element.
Petra Parker/Cyborg Spider-Woman
Cyborg Spider-Women comes from a future where everyone is a cyborg and a great robot war is taking place. She is one of the first Spider-People to try and apprehend Miles at the Spider-Society. As her name suggests, she is part cyborg and includes various cybernetic attachments. These include the robotic arm pieces previously used for robot characters, including the Robot from Series 1. The arm is extended by a stud and a rod. Cyborg Spider-Women also includes an accessory which slots over the neck connection and lies over one shoulder and part of the head. Both pieces help to show the character’s cyborg upgrades. The print detail is a little more apocalyptic, with chains and straps covering the spider suit beneath. It’s the perfect partner for the Cyborg Spider-Man included in the recent LEGO Spider-Verse book from DK Books.
Charlotte Webber/Sun-Spider
Sun-Spider is another Spider variant Miles meets at the Spider-Society. She has a condition called EDS, which results in hyper-flexible joints. The condition means Charlotte uses a wheelchair and crutches. The minifigure uses the new crutch elements introduced in the recent LEGO City Train Station. Some may say the character has only been included due to her disability, but it’s a character which would never appear in a set, and a Spider-Person who uses crutches is pretty cool. Plus, the character has a unique costume.
Overall
This was always going to be a minifigure series which splits opinion. Not everyone is a fan of Marvel or Spider-Man, but it’s the perfect means to deliver an array of unique characters which would be unlikely to appear anywhere else. I also appreciate that some unexpected characters have been included. It would have been easy to include Spider-Ham, Spider-Noir and Peni Parker, although it is a shame the Spider-Verse’s version of Spider-Women was left out. The Disney-led side of Marvel things is rightly the source of most LEGO Marvel products. But Sony’s Spider-Verse is mostly an untapped source of inspiration. Hopefully, this series of characters will prove popular enough to result in more sets and minifigures from across and beyond the Spider-Verse.
