Quinjets have appeared in several Marvel films and TV series. In turn, they have also appeared in quite a few LEGO® Marvel sets. Amazingly, no two LEGO Quinjets are the same and the latest offers the biggest and most detailed version to date. The ship plays a key role in Age of Ultron as the Avengers use it to chase down Ultron’s new body in downtown Seoul. The format of the set is similar to last year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Milano ship. So it is mounted on a display stand and includes five minifigures. Here’s a closer look at the LEGO Marvel Age of Ultron Quinjet.

As mentioned, there have been several different takes on the Quinjet. The iconic VTOL craft has been used by the Avengers and the SHIELD agents on numerous missions. The most prolific of which was in Age of Ultron. As Ultron plans to transfer his consciousness into a powerful Verbranium body, the Quinjet is deployed to track it down and stop the rogue AI from completing his plan.
The Quinjet’s construction begins with the base of the jet. It doesn’t include any fancy mechanisms or even wheels, so the build process is quite simple in places. One of the most impressive things about the jet is the layering of parts to build up its details. You’ll notice some odd pink elements, which aren’t used as filler bricks but sit beneath other bricks to become the jet’s thruster engines. The large wing spans are mostly part of the core of the jet, and they feature much of the ship’s detail. It’s clear from the exterior that this has been the focus of the set; however, you can still access the interior.
Inside the jet is the cockpit, which can be accessed by popping on the canopy section. This reveals a control panel, a few seats and some screens. You can also access the large cargo hold. This doesn’t offer much in terms of detail, but it can be used to store some weapons and Black Widow’s motorcycle. This uses the updated, bulkier shell, which sits over a bike frame. It can also be mounted on the display stand.
The jet can be mounted on a black display stand. This is similar in style to those often found in UCS Star Wars sets. But it offers something a little extra than just a perch for the Quinjet. The section on which the jet is connected can be rotated. This allows you to position it a little more dynamically. The stand also has the option to display the set’s minifigure. Instead of just standing them in a line on the stand, they can be mounted on transparent rods. This makes them look a little more exciting.
The five minifigures are a good mix, with Iron Man, Black Widow and Hawkeye already featuring in previous sets. So they don’t really offer anything new or unique. Iron Man’s inclusion seems at odds with the moment the set appears to be inspired by. Captain America would have made a little more sense, but I get Iron Man’s appeal, and to be fair, both characters have been overused in the LEGO Marvel sets. Quicksilver is all-new and a much better version than the one from set 76041. The white hairpiece used is a better fit for the character than the previous version’s. Ultron’s appearance is upgraded throughout the second Avengers film. This new minifigure version uses the unique piece, which is fitted around the neck, but ditches the accompanying hood piece. The print detail on the torso and legs looks great against the shiny silver surface of the body.
It’s one of the best takes on a Quinjet, and the ability to display it is quite neat. I also like that the minifigures can be dynamically incorporated into the display stand. The grey Quinjet may have a greater appeal thanks to its OG nature and its connection to the wider MCU. But this blue version looks a lot better, and we get enough grey ships from the LEGO Star Wars sets. I like the balance the Marvel sets currently have. The offering of sets based on the older MCU films and the comic books is great. I get the appeal of certain characters, but in sets like this, it would be nice to expand beyond the usual faces or at least offer something a little more unique.
