The Herschel Supply Co. recently released the first of its LEGO-branded bags. The new partnership has seen a range of bags created featuring four different patterns. Two are inspired by classic LEGO® bricks, with the other patterns taking inspiration from the LEGO Botanicals range. Items in the collection include backpacks, crossbody bags, hip packs, pencil cases and lunch bags. There are also several items from the Heritage range. Herschel Supply Co. have kindly sent a couple of items to take a look at.
Herschel Heritage Crossbody Bag
If you need a smaller bag to carry a few bits and bobs, then the Crossbody Bag is perfect. It includes an adjustable strap, which can be extended by a decent amount. The single zipped compartment reveals a small netted pocket and a clip. It’s not a huge space, but just enough for a phone and wallet. There’s a sleeve pocket on the rear of the bag. The heritage tag is related to a diamond patch found on the front of the bags. For the LEGO range, this features a LEGO-studded texture. This is similar to the patches found on the Levi X LEGO clothing and DOTS range. Unfortunately, the studs are smaller than those found on LEGO bricks, so the patch cannot be built on. Which is a shame.
Herschel Abstract Classic Backpack
With the Summer holidays in full swing, it will soon be time to go back to school. So you may be in the market for a new backpack. This traditional bag includes the usual features you’d expect from a backpack, including adjustable straps, a large zipped compartment and smaller pockets. The smaller sections include two open side pockets and a zipped section on the front of the bag. These offer plenty of room to store all sorts of items. The abstract LEGO brick pattern offers a colourful but grown-up design.
Herschel Abstract Classic Hip Pack
Sometimes known as ‘fanny packs’ or ‘ bum bags’, the Hip Pack is a rather retro piece of apparel. So much so, it may not appeal to everyone. However, it’s a useful bag-like item, with enough room for some keys, a smaller phone or a handful of LEGO bricks. It would be a great item to own if you go out on a lot of trips, as you wouldn’t need to keep finding somewhere to store a bag or get someone to hold it. The pattern is quite colourful, but it doesn’t scream LEGO.
Overall, it’s nice to have another outlet to share your love of the LEGO brand through. Admittedly, the various bags aren’t cheap, but they are well-made and should last. It’s disappointing that the LEGO-themed Herschel diamond patch doesn’t offer the same 1:1 studs so they could be built upon, similar to the items from Levi.
