But despite how wild the plots of the long-running film series have become, the cars have remained the heart of the franchise. One of the most iconic cars from the second film, 2 Fast 2 Furious, was driven by Suki. Her custom hot pink Honda S2000 has now been immortalised in LEGO® bricks for the latest LEGO Speed Champions set to be inspired by Universal’s long-running film series. The Fast and Furious films have already inspired two previous Speed Champions sets, including Dom’s Dodge Charger and Brian’s Nissan Skyline GT-R. Now they are joined by another iconic vehicle from the franchise, Suki’s custom Honda S2000. More so than the aforementioned cars, the Suki’s Honda perfectly encapsulates the early 2000s tuner scene, where the cars were loud, supercharged and ready to race.
As with most Speed Champions sets, the build is slightly more complex compared to similar-sized LEGO vehicles, making it an enjoyable and engaging experience. The overall shape of the S2000 is nicely replicated. There are some clever building techniques employed to achieve the car’s shape, especially around the front and rear. The use of various slopes and tiles helps to partly recreate the car’s aerodynamic body. Although it’s a little blockier than the real car.
Suki’s ride is remembered for its bright pink paint job, but it’s also wrapped with unique decals. For those anime-style graphics found on the car, many of them are added via stickers, but there are also printed pieces. I still find it odd that 4+ sets can feature 100% printed pieces, yet sets such as this can’t, and it would be greatly improved if some of those stickered pieces were printed. Especially those found on the side of the car, which need to match up with the printed elements.
One of the highlights of sets inspired by movies is their minifigures. Suki is just as eye-catching as her car, as she is sporting a pink and purple outfit. This is captured nicely by the minifigure’s detailed torso print, matching her look from the movie. It also captures the character’s stern expression.
The LEGO Speed Champions 2 Fast 2 Furious Honda S2000 is another great addition to the Speed Champions range. It nicely captures the appearance of Suki’s iconic car, bringing an eye-catching piece of cinematic automotive history to life in brick form. The vibrant colour, clever build, and excellent minifigure make this a standout in the Speed Champions line. If you’re a fan of the Fast & Furious films or own any of the other Speed Champions sets inspired by the films, this is a must-have. Considering the set keeps going out of stock, it would suggest it’s been quite popular.
