Unlike the LEGO Marvel books mentioned above, this new title isn’t as detailed, but it does cover sets and characters from the LEGO Marvel and LEGO Spider-Man sets. The book is split into three chapters, the first focuses on Peter Parker’s Spider-Man. Chapter two covers other Spider-Man variants, along with other Spider heroes. The final chapter takes a look at the many villains Spider-Man has had to face over the years. There are blue sections found on various pages which highlight sets and minifigures connected to the MCU.
The book’s content is quite simple and best described as a colourful catalogue of LEGO Marvel sets, both past and present. But it will certainly interest Spider-Man fans. It does offer a great look at some of the many different minifigures released and how they relate to different aspects of the Spider-Verse. But for many, the interest in the book will be its unique minifigure.
Every copy of the Explore the Spider-Verse book will include an exclusive minifigure dubbed ‘Cyborg Spider-Man’, although the book simply refers to the minifigure as the Cyborg Suit. In Marvel lore, Earth-2818’s Peter Parker gets caught in a war against the vampiric Inheritors. After meeting with a group of Spider-People, he’s given the nickname “Spider-Cyborg” due to his many cybernetic enhancements. The minifigure is nicely detailed with dual-moulded legs and a silver arm used for the cybernetically enhanced aspect of the character. The new way it’s packed into the book should also get a mention. There’s no plastic used any more, and an extra layer has been added between the flip inside the book and the minifigure, which should make it slightly more difficult for the minifigure to be stolen.
