Since Bluey and her family were first introduced, the popularity of the show has soared, thanks in part to being available on Disney+ as well as local broadcasters. Fans have hoped for the animated show to inspire LEGO® builds, and those wishes were answered earlier this year. As mentioned in my preview of the smallest of the upcoming Bluey 4+ playsets, the simple nature of their builds does not need to have an in-depth essay. Instead, I’ll be taking a brief look at what the sets have to offer and the cool, unique elements and printed pieces they contain. Here’s a closer look at Bluey’s Beach & Family Car Trip set.

The family car is an SUV affectionately known as Bobo. In LEGO form, it is built upon a Starter Brick, which forms the body of the car. Inside, there is space to seat four minifigures and store a cooler box in the rear, along with surfboards on the roof rack. The printed tile used on the front of the car includes the ‘419HLR’ number plate, which is a reference to the blue colour used in the Bluey logo and the breed of Heeler dogs, which inspired the characters.
The beach area uses one of the unique base plates and is dotted with little details, including a sandcastle, a small tree and a parasol. But the best feature is a mound of sand which looks like a mermaid tail, and a minifigure can be slotted into it so it looks like they are buried in the sand.
Bluey is the only character from the show to appear in all of the Bluey sets, and beyond a couple of accessories, it is the same minifigure in each of the 4+ sets. Bluey is joined by her little sister Bingo. This minifigure uses the same shorter, movable legs and head as Bluey but in the orange colour. The kids’ Mum, Chilli is also features in the set; this also uses the same headpiece but with different print detail, and to differentiate the kids from the adult, Chilli has standard minifigure legs.
The set features several unique elements. In terms of Starter Bricks, there’s the base of the car and the plates used for the beach. The car also includes a pair of interesting seat pieces and tyres, which already have the rims and connector pins in place. The 4+ sets are famed for the printed pieces, and there are two found in this set. These include a 2×6 tile used for the front of the car and a curved bow angle slope found on the beach. The set also features a few rare recoloured elements such as the umbrella, surfboards and most of the pieces used to build the car, as it’s a recently introduced new colour, Reddish Orange.
It’s another fun reflection of colourful world of Bluey shown in the TV series. It’s a nice little set to introduce fans of the show to world of LEGO building although they may need a little help with some of the smaller pieces. The car is best part of the set especially the unique pieces used to build it. Bluey’s Beach & Family Car Trip set will be available from June 1st.
