Since 2020, the LEGO® Star Wars theme has recreation numerous characters’ headwear in the Helmet Collection sub-theme. It’s one of several product lines focused on displayable builds aimed towards adult LEGO fans and joins the likes of the long-running Ultimate Collector Series and newer sub-themes, including the Starship Collection and the Diorama Collection. Characters from all eras of the Star Wars saga had their headwear transformed into displayable sets. After a brief rest in 2024, the LEGO Star Wars Helmet Collection is back with two more sets, the first of which is inspired by Bounty Hunter Jango Fett.

When Boba Fett first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back, the mystery behind the character soon made him a fan favourite. His story has been fleshed out in other Star Wars stories, but the biggest development came with Attack of the Clones. Here we meet a similar-looking Bounty Hunter, who turns out to be the DNA template for the Clone Army and Boba’s ‘dad’. Jango wears the iconic Mandalorian armour, which features blue and silver colouring. This is the third Helmet Collection set to be based on a Mandalorian bounty hunter.
Each of the Helmet Collection sets shares a similar display stand. This offers a uniform design across the range. The stand section is used as a connection point to mount the core of the helmet. Once these two sections are paired together, the exterior detail of the helmet is then added around it. The display stand also features a printed plaque, which features the LEGO Star Wars logo and the name of the set.
Although the exterior detail of the helmet is created from several separate elements, they are largely simple to build. I would suggest paying attention when building the sections which form the domed top of Fett’s helmet. As they are made up of the same coloured pieces, it’s quite easy to overlook an element. The most detailed part of the helmet is the two panels which form the front of it. These clip into place and help to create the defined shape of a Mandalorian helmet. There are a number of stickers used to add detail to strip which runs across the top helmet’s visor area. It’s unfortunate they are not printed, as this is a prominent area and the lines need to be lined up or they look odd.
On one side of Jango’s helmet, you’ll find an antenna-type piece, which is a rangefinder. This can be rotated to flip down in front of the eye area of the helmet. Although the end of the antenna looks a little messy, it’s a good representation of the device worn by Jango in Attack of the Clones.
As mentioned, this is the third set to be based on a Mandalorian helmet, and each set is built differently. They aren’t just the same design in different colours. Jango Fett isn’t as beloved as Boba or Din Djarin, but the helmets, which completely cover a character’s face, do offer better sets, and Jango’s bucket is an obvious choice. Plus, it links nicely to the UCS Jango Fett’s Starship set. Jango Fett’s Helmet joins Kylo Ren’s helmet, which I’ll be reviewing shortly. Both of the new Helmet Collection sets will be available from May 1st.
