As part of this year’s May the 4th celebrations, there will be several promotional items available. One of those LEGO® Star Wars GWP items is a small set featuring a trio of Clones and some unusual training equipment. It’s also a set full of LEGO ‘firsts’, as it’s the first time a KE-8 Enforcer ship has appeared in a LEGO set, and it’s also the first time Clone cadets have been portrayed as minifigures. Even though it’s based on a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ moment from Attack of the Clones, it’s an interesting set for LEGO Star Wars fans. Here’s a closer look at the Kamino Training Facility GWP set.

Free Set: 40765: Kamino Training Facility | Pieces: 190 | Spend Limit: £145/$160/160€
Duration: May 1st – 5th | Availability: Online & in-store | Requirements: Purchases of LEGO Star Wars sets
Star Wars lore was forever changed with the release of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. It introduced the concept of Clones, which were created by Kamino scientists to form an army for the Republic. The Clone Army soldiers were created from the DNA of the Bounty Hunter, Jango Fett, and as the name would suggest, they all looked the same. Once the Clone were mature enough, they were put through their paces in the advanced training facilities of Kamino. We are briefly shown how the Clones are created and trained during Obi-Wan’s visit to Kamino. The location is revisited during the Clone Wars and Bad Batch.
As a promotional set, it’s quite a small offering, but it’s similar in scale to the much-loved Battle Packs. So it includes three minifigures, a turret tower, a small craft known as a KE-8 Enforcer and that all-important weapon rack. The turret and rack are simple little builds with the turret being a stack of 2×2 bricks topped with a small turntable. The weapon rack has a trio of clips to store different blasters.
The biggest part of the set is a small pod-like craft known as a KE-8 Enforcer. This one-person craft is unlike anything else in the Star Wars universe. They are only briefly seen zipping about in the background as Obi-Wan discusses the Clone Army with Luma Su and Taun We. They are automated drone-like crafts which patrol the Clone ranks and detain any showing unusual behaviour, hence the space for a single person. In LEGO from, the pod-like section features a small canopy, which can be flipped down to place a Clone inside. On either side of the craft are two turntable plates, which form the Enforcers’ stun bolts. What makes the craft really unusual is the long, thin ‘tail’. This can be folded to allow the craft to be balanced on a surface. Without adding a bulky stand, it would be impossible to stand the craft on a fully extended tail.
We’ve been treated for many different Clone characters over the years, and they always prove popular. These minifigures are inspired by younger Clones. They’re not in armour, instead they are wearing dark red training gear. This is better portrayed in episodes of the Clone Wars series. As Clones, the three minifigures are identical, using the same hair, head, torso and dual-moulded legs. Their only difference is their weapons.
It’s an interesting little set and can be easily obtained should any of the newly revealed LEGO Star Wars sets take your fancy. It seems unlikely the minifigures found in the set would appear anywhere else, but never say never. The LEGO Star Wars Kamino Training Facility set will be available during this year’s May the 4th promotion. It will be included for free when you spend £140/$160/160€ on LEGO Star Wars products between May 1st – 5th.
