Since his introduction in 2019, The Child has gained a name and almost universal love from Star Wars fans. Now known as Grogu, the mini Force user has inspired several LEGO® incarnations and the latest is the most substantial yet. This upcoming 2025 LEGO Star Wars set includes Grogu, his Hover Pram, and a few tasty accessories. All of this results in another LEGO outing for the little green guy. How does it compare to previous sets? Here’s a preview of the LEGO Star Wars set, Grogu with Hover Pram.

We first met Grogu at the end of the first episode of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. The character has become so popular that he will soon star alongside Din Djarin in the next big-screen Star Wars adventure. She’s also inspired several past LEGO sets, including a buildable character and a BrickHeadz set. This new set blends aspects of both and celebrates memorable moments from across the three seasons of the Disney+ series.
Grogu’s first brick-built outing was in a BrickHeadz set, which offered a simplified version of the character. An almost 1:1 take on the character soon followed, which offered a larger scale and more detailed build. This set’s Grogu really is a meeting point for both of those sets. So in terms of size, Grogu is about twice the height of a BrickHeadz character. Although smaller than the more detailed take, this new version of Grogu manages to capture the character’s cuteness perfectly. This is largely due to the use of newly printed eyes. But the use of elements, especially around the head area also helps. I particularly like the way a closed hinge plate is used for a nose and wheel trims for framing the eyes.
Although this is a smaller version of the character it does include a fun play function. Both of Grogu’s arms are attached to gear wheels. These poke out the back of the character’s robes and can be used to move the arms. It’s a fun nod to the character’s practical puppetry from The Mandalorian. On the subject of robes, the way they are achieved here works much better than the studded version from set 75318. They still feel textured, thanks to the layering of elements, but not garishly so. Plus the use of two colours to add detail around the neck and arms elevates the look further.
In comparison to the hover pram, Grogu is a tiny part of the overall set. Despite his advanced age, Grogu is still young and can often be found in his pram. But this is Star Wars, so it’s no ordinary pram, this one hovers. Well, the one from the show does, in LEGO form it sits upon a small plinth. But it does require a much more involved build than other aspects of the set. It’s never easy to emulate curved structures with LEGO elements. There is often a comprise on the overall appearance or a lot of special elements are needed. Neither of these is the case here. Instead, elements have been cleverly combined to capture the spherical shape of the hover pram. Plus it’s extremely fun to build. Once complete, there is plenty of room to place Grogu within and he can be secured in place thanks to a guide brick on the bottom of the pram
Grogu is well known for his love of eating things. Throughout his adventures with The Mandalorian, Grogu has eaten blue cookies, space frogs and the unhatched spawn of a travelling Querm Rybet. Some of these tasty treats are included in the set, along with the sphere from the gear shaft of the Razor Crest.
The set also includes a display plaque, which is similar to those featured in numerous other Star Wars sets but is a printed element. The plaque stand is also home to a tiny version of the Hover Pram, complete with a Grogu minifigure.
Although this is a standalone set, it’s difficult not to compare it to the set 75318: The Child. Firstly, the set is slightly more expansive than 75318, the new set does have a slightly lower piece count, but the more varied offering of the set warrants the price. This version also offers a far more engaging build experience, especially the excellent Hover Pram. Plus the Grogu figure is also the best version of the character to appear in LEGO form yet, which includes the minifigure. The accessories and moving abilities of Grogu offer fun play elements, whilst the overall set makes a fantastic display piece, although it will take up a chunk of space due to the Hover Pram’s size. Set 76967: Grogu with Hover Pram will be released on January 1st, 2025 and can be pre-ordered from selected retailers now.
