The LEGO House One Year On

This time last year the LEGO® House opened its doors, with one goal – to be the ultimate destination for LEGO fans. Located in Billund, Denmark, the LEGO House was the brainchild of Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, former president of the LEGO Group and grandson of the founder of LEGO. Kjeld envisioned an area in the home town of LEGO, which could incorporates the long history of the LEGO brand and show how the brick has inspired play for over 60 years. The story of how the LEGO House came to be, can be seen in the award-winning Netflix documentary, LEGO House – Home of the Brick.

The LEGO House features a number of unique zones each offering a variety of fun and interactive activities to enjoy. With the centrepiece of the LEGO House being the Masterpiece Gallery, home to a trio of brick-built dinosaurs and a number of inspiring builds from builders and LEGO fans from across the globe. Within the centre of the LEGO House, is a huge LEGO tree, which represents the LEGO Groups carpentry roots and how LEGO helps to grow creativity in kids and adults alike. The attraction came to the attention of many through the hit Channel 4 TV show, LEGO MASTERS. The prize for those crowned winners of the series, would be to have their final super build displayed in the LEGO House. With both pairs of finalists getting the honour of displaying their creations there in the end.
