Back in January, the LEGO Group announced a new partnership with Chinese media group Tencent. This new link up would help the LEGO Group to continue their push into the lucrative Asian markets. After adding various LEGO® content to the Tencent video platform in May, the next phase of the partnership is being teased and will be coming from Tencent’s gaming division. Three images have been published on Chinese microblog Weibo, showing a brick-built sword, mean looking knight and a brick-built 2×2 brick, with a mysterious glowing door. Although no further details have been released, a full reveal is expected on September 19th. It’s assumed the title will be some sort of mobile title, due to the popularity of mobile gaming in the Asian markets. Despite the rumours, I highly doubt this is connected to some sort of link up with Nintendo or the Zelda franchise. Plus TT Games have the sole licence to create large-scale ‘AAA’ games. It’s possible the Tencent title make may the leap to Western markets, but it’s worth noting TT Games recently set up a mobile studio to focus on bringing LEGO experiences to smart devices. So if we don’t get a chance to play this mysterious new title, there’s something in the works from Warner Bros.
