LEGO VIDIYO Prototypes & Development Models

Sticking with LEGO® VIDIYO, it’s time to take a look at a number of the prototypes and development models used to create the new wave of VIDIYO sets. I love these sort of things as they show what could have been and how seeds of ideas bloom into the sets we get to build. The focus of the new sets is buildable stages, which offer a far more traditional take on LEGO building. These stage sets have expanded from smaller stages for a single character to transforming builds which are perfect to host a full band of Minifigures. Although the smaller character-focused minibuild stages look quite cool. At one point it seems a mix of buildable elements and cardboard backgrounds were considered. These look visually pleasing but a little impractical. Hopefully, this second wave of sets will be welcomed with a little less hostility from certain corners of the LEGO community but I doubt it.
