LEGO and the world for Star Wars have a long history together, since they joined forces to give us one of the longest running licensed LEGO themes, it’s also lead the way with various other LEGO-themed branded products. This includes a number of timepieces from ClicTime, in particular their long running line of Minifigure Alarm Clocks. These large scale character clocks are a perfect oversized version of the various LEGO minifigures. With the latest instalment to the Star Wars saga coming this December, ClicTime have released a number of watches and minifigure clocks, based on characters from the entire Star Wars saga.

Boba Fett is the feared bounty hunter this side of the Outer Rim, he has appeared in various forms over the course of the LEGO Star Wars 18 years history. This particular version of Boba Fett is based on his most recent LEGO set appearance. Apart from the obvious different in size, there are a couple of differences between clock and the minifigure it is inspired by. The torso of the houses a digital LCD clock screen. This is where the time is displayed, a handy feature for a clock and as you can see from the image above in normal mode the panel is grey, then when you push down Boba’s head, the panel glows green for a few seconds.

As with all Minifigure clocks, the controls can be found on the rear of the clock. They are really simple to use especially for setting an alarm. The alarm time is located on in the bottom right-hand corner of LCD panel and can switched on simply with a slide of a switch. Access to the battery panel can also be found here, with the clock being powered by 3 AAA batteries, these are included and last a decent amount of time.

It’s not just the appearance of the minifigures the clock has recreated, it also has much of the same points of articulation. Both the legs and arms move in the same way as the minifigures, as do the hands and most impressive is the inclusion of Boba Fett’s targeting antenna. Which is included as a seperate piece that slots into a hole on the helmet Despite the larger scale of the clock, it really is an perfect recreation of the Boba Fett minifigure, print detail is spot on as is the colouring, the only down side is the lack of cape. While it’s fully understandable that the jetpack isn’t included, the cape wouldn’t impact access to the controls on the back of the clock. The characters from The LEGO Batman Movie range had their capes intact, it would of been nice if Boba Fett did too.

Overall

ClicTime’s range of products are always impressive, most impressive and this Boba Fett edition is pretty cool. The lack of cape is a little disappointing but it doesn’t take away from the rest of the product. It’s worth noting that this version of the Boba Fett Minifigure Clock was first released in 2012 so it’s only recently material elements have been introduced to the product range. The Boba Fett Minifigure Clock would make a great gift this Christmas for fans of LEGO and Star Wars, you can always bet on the Fett to tell you the time in style.
